I grew up attending a Quaker Meetinghouse. And my mother's side of the family was from Scotland. I cannot imagine another religious characterization on a product other than Quaker Oats. Name a thousand religions and make cartoons drawings of them in costumes and try putting that on a product! But Quaker, that's okay? The stereo type is that Scottish people are cheap penny pinching misers. So Safeway came up with Scotch Buy for the cheap stuff. Name any other nationality or ethnic group, thought to be cheap, where that would be acceptable with a cartoon drawing on the label? I am not whining. I just think it is ironic and funny.
