Help with broken key in Bosch on a Fuji bike

I posted this in the maintenance section also

Looking for some help regarding a broken key on my bike. I accidentally broke the key off in the ignition while transporting
It. I had a locksmith try to extract the broken part, but it won't come out.

Looking for some ideas to see if it's possible to remove the keylock, or battery without damaging the battery.

Other suggestions welcomed as well.

Did you have any luck? If this was in our shop we would probably drill the lock with a 1/2” bit if we couldn’t get the key out, but I feel you should be able to. Did you have any luck?

I had a locksmith try to retrieve the broken part of the key, but it’s off Center a little and wedged in there, so it won’t come out.

I’m in FL for the winter and think I’ll wait until I get home to Michigan in April and try another locksmith. If that doesn’t work, I’ll have my bike shop talk to Fuji and see what they recommend for a repair. I suspect drilling it will be the option unless there’s a way they recommend to remove the lock without drilling.

We’ve replaced many Bosch locks over the years and unless you can get the battery off with the piece of the key in there you’ll probably need to drill it. It’s not a very big job in my experience. About 15 minutes and the cost for the lock (about $40 if I remember correctly)

Thank you for the guidance, I will get with my shop when I get home.

Do you have any tips for drilling out the lock? I lost my keys and the code is not saved on my motor.

Mine is the 2nd gen lock made by trelock. I have a replacement assembly. I’m too chicken to just take a drill to the lock without any additional information.

Do you drill out the entire core?

Looking for a little guidance from someone that’s done it before.

Thanks in advance!
