Help finding the right bike for my wife please.

So...I know there are a lot of you that really know the market and what's out there.

My wife and I are just in the process of buying ebikes to hopefully help us get back into riding and lose some weight. I've ridden bikes on and off a bit for years, but she - not so much. I just purchased my ebike, so I'm good.

We both have regular bikes, but she REALLY, REALLY struggles on even the smallest hill. Also...quite honestly, if there is very much struggle, I know she won't ride at all. The primary goal is to get her on the bike - period.

That being said....here are what I think is going to work for her.
Position: upright - upright/relaxed
Motor: Lots of pedal-assist/torque to help on hills (75 N-m or higher)
Speed: Not important at all.
Fork: Probably need a suspension fork to help with the "comfort" part.

Does anybody have any suggestions that might meet these requirements? Oh...and I really, really hate the idea of buying a bike that can't be test ridden, so hopefully in brands that we can find in a bike shop.

Magnum Cruiser, dealers nationwide but is Class 3 so you won't be allowed to ride on bike paths, may I suggest you try Class 1 pedelecs or Class 2 throttle ebikes which you can ride on bike paths most places. Class 1 options that meet your requirements include for example ebikes with the Bosch CX motor the Bulls Cross Lite EVO or Cube Touring Hybrid Pro 500, or with the Brose S motor like the Easy Motion Atom Diamond Wave Pro. A Class 2 cruiser ebike option with a geared hub motor similar to the Magnum but without the Class 3 speed would be most 48v ebikes from Pedego, they have nationwide dealers and some sell their used ex-rental/demo models at a discount with a 1 year motor/battery warranty - note Pedego also sell 36v models so be sure to ask if they have any 48v cruisers in stock.

My wife had similar issues to yours and she is also short which added to our search criteria. After looking for almost 2 years, we decided on the Pedego Platinum Interceptor.

It's a class 2 ebike with a throttle which I highly recommend for riders who have trouble getting started. It has front suspension, 5 levels of assist and a 10 speed gear train which is suitable for all but the steepest hills. Pedego is on the higher end of the price spectrum but their customer service is second to none. They have a large number of dealers across the country. As is the case with any brand, I suggest you visit a dealer and take a test ride before buying.

My wife has a Blix Aveny. I have noticed when we are out riding, some women seem to be drawn to the Aveny and often stop and ask her about it. I think they like the style, color and the integrated front basket. The Aveny is a Class 2 ebike with a throttle. My wife is out of shape physically and uses the throttle quite a lot, but still gets some exercise with it by pedaling on the flat easy stretches of the trail. Even with frequent use of the throttle, she has no problem going 25 or 30 miles on the trail on a single charge. My wife's Aveny is two years old (2017 model) and has so far been reliable. It is one of the lower priced Class 2 ebikes under $2000.
