Haibike eConnect App for US riders

Has anyone tried using this App? I was told by the mfg that it was not available, however, it is on the Google Play store for free download. Just curious if any Haibike owners were able to discover a work around. I was not able to even get past registration on my Android. Perhaps it is only designed for EU riders. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Last time I checked It was region locked on the play store. If your region is US you have to use one of those apk serving websites.

Thanks Johnny! After successful download on Android, I made attempts to do registration on my Chromebook to no avail. I also believe you have to have the cube shaped eConnect module installed in your bike to enable the app to shake hands with the bike's firmware. Certain models look like they already have the module pre-installed from the factory. Please correct me if I am missing something here.

Ahh where is my mind bosch ebike software was in my mind sorry about that. It seems that it is for models equipped with the gps tracker. The retrofit seems to be around $300.

It won't work in the US anyway.

There's a starter manual here:

An excerpt:

Outside of these countries, the eConnect function is not available and no further costs are involved.

From the EU FAQ for eConnect:

Which models feature eConnect?

The following models feature eConnect as standard:
  • SDURO HARDSEVEN 10.0
  • SDURO HARDNINE 10.0
  • SDURO FULLSEVEN 10.0
  • SDURO FULLNINE 10.0
  • SDURO FULLSEVEN LT 10.0
  • SDURO TREKKING 8.0
  • XDURO ALLMTN 10.0
  • XDURO NDURO 9.0
  • XDURO FULL FATSIX 9.0
Will it be retrofittable?

eConnect is expected to be available by end of april 2018 as retrofit kit at your dealer. It is suitable for every Haibike model (except XDURO Gen1 with Bosch Classic system). The skid plate might have to be exchanged.

My note: I think it's actually only retrofittable on newer models.

Which countries feature eConnect?

The following countries feature eConnect: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finnland, France, French Guiana, Gibraltar, Greece, the UK, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Iceland, Isle of Man, Italy, Channel Islands, Croatia, La Désirade, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Marie-Galante, Martinique, Monaco, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Reunion & Mayotte, Romania, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin (French part), San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Vatican City, Cyprus.

What happens when I'm not in one of the above countries?

In this case, the onboard unit will not be able to connect to the server. This results in the eConnect app being unable to operate. No additional costs occur!

Does eConnect work when you remove the bike's main battery?

Yes, the transmitting unit of the eBike houses a separate buffer battery. Thus, the function is ensured, even when the eBike battery is removed or empty.

How long can the buffer battery last?

When the eBike is not moved, the system switches into an economical monitoring mode which lasts up to 6 months. As soon as the eBike is back in use again, the buffer battery charges automatically via the drive system.

Can the unit easily be removed in order to avoid an alarm?

No because the movement sensor in the transmitting unit reacts extremely sensitive to vibrations.

JayVee-Thanks for the heads up! I'll just uninstall off of my Android being it is rendered useless.
