Greetings from Colorado

Hi everyone, I'm Yen from Broomfield, Colorado. I have been commuting to work (weather permitting) in Boulder, CO for the past 4 years, on my Stromer ST1 Platinum. I look forward to learning and sharing my knowledge of my Stromer and bike commuting.

Curious as to where you bought your stromer. I have always been a Stromer fan although they arent the most cost effective these days. Still love them though!

Im in louisville, I dont commute as I work from home but on a good day I ride 20-30 miles just to get outside. Many rides(south bound) are in broomfield at some point. Curious as to what route(s) you use. We may have crossed paths but i dont recall ever seeing a stromer on my rides.

I usually head down the 36 bikeway when I go south, If I dont exit to rock creek trail(underpass just south of flatirons crossing), I usually end up at dry creek trail and either go east to I25 or west to standley lake(so much to explore)

Im on either a Bulls eMTB, a Juiced CCX or my own DIY TSDZ2(old silver GT zaskar) conversion.

I bought my Stromer at Small Planet Ebikes in Longmont. I test rode 7 of the bikes they had in stock at the time, and narrowed it down to the ST1 Platinum. It was definitely more than I wanted to spend. After more than 4 years of trouble free riding, still on the original Schwalbe Big Ben with more than 4,000 miles, I can say that it was a good investment. The rig is sturdy, well built, and looks like a normal bike.

In the early days, before the US36 bikeway, I used to ride north on 287 to 42, Empire road behind the cemetery, north on Courtesy Road, then west on Baseline, to South Boulder Creek trail. I found that traffic gets heavy through Louisville, with not much shoulder room on Courtesy, and the people on the multi-use path in Boulder can not hear you with their ears stuffed with hearing aids, and dogs not well controlled. Over time, I chose to ride north on US287, west on Baseline, north on Old Tale road, under Arapahoe, and a short jog on East Boulder trail. I've given the US36 bikeway a couple of tries, but it takes me 4 miles out of my way to get on it to start my commute.

For non commuter rides, I have ridden with the group from ebikes of Colorado in Louisville on their Sunday noon fun ride, meet at the store at 11:30 am. Bring your bike and we can meet in person.

The Stromer sub-forum is riddled with people who have issues. Either the bikes are clearly defective or they don't know how to maintain stuff.
With simple maintenance, most E-bikes can be made to go really high mileage. Especially, direct drive motors like Stromer and BionX. So, if possible, please post a pic of your bike in the Stromer forum.

When I first started seriously looking at ebikes(Aug 2017) and demoing rides(at ebikes of colorado (EOC)), the stromer was the only one I liked. I have more of an offroad focus though.

Sounds like you probably ride on coal creek trail and/or rock creek trail. Im sure we will cross paths eventually.
