Free Test Rides for Albany Lawmakers (new law is on the agenda)

So after several years the the law for ebikes is finally on the agenda to be voted on and we may have an official law regarding electric bikes in NY. I'm planning a trip to Albany next week with about 5 bikes and I'm hoping to setup in the plaza at the capital.

We need help getting the word out and any other support we can get. I'm hoping to make the trip and setup for the day on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Let us know how things pan out.
Very recently, the rules in Maryland changed and its for our good. Ebikes with <500W power and pedal assist don't need any registration, license and can use the bike trails.

How is that NY law coming along?

I didn't go to a vote this year. It was on the agenda, but it was never voted on. We have a lot more support now so hopefully this year it will go through.

There was some real silly politics going on in NY at the end of the session. The Republicans were mad at Cuomo for reneging on a deal so they wouldn't let any bill pass presented by a Democrat. At one point it was 20-1 for every Democratic bill passing.

Currently we're still dependent on the federal law outside of NYC, but hopefully that'll change next session which won't be until next year.

Thanks for the update Chris, glad you didn't have to spend extra time driving to Albany and back given the short term outcome on this. I enjoyed hanging out and feel like our test ride day helped expose some people to this new technology
