We crashed on our tandem beast We were turning onto a street going downhill not too fast and this dog came barreling out looking like it was going to go in front of us. Not exactly sure what happened I think I brakes and I think my wife leaned right and we went over. I landed on the bar end where my leg and hip join and my wife hit her ribs on the bars I think. The people who the dog belongs to were really nice and the dog just did one of those dogie dashes and then took off cause we scared her I bet. I think the only damage was the hydraulic brake lever mount broke and the bar end mirror broke. I think its ok but it needs checked out since I cant replace the brake lever. They were really nice and loaded the bike in a trailer and took us home only a mile away or so from our house. Will pay for the repairs and all. My poor leg is really stiff and riding to work Monday will be fun. My garmin gps was going off about the crash and my Apple Watch. I stopped my watch but I was thinking y wife watch was going off but it was the computer it tested my wife and daughter. I was standing over the bike with one shoe off trying to figure out how to get my leg over as it was so stiff I could not move it. But they gave me ice and helped me step over it.

I'm so sorry this happened to the both of you but glad there were no major injuries and I'm pleased as punch that the people responsible are doing the right thing.
I hope you both heal quickly and the bike is fixed as quickly.

Sorry to hear this, I hope you both heal well and get back on the tandem soon!

Hope you both feel better soon. We never know what might run out in front of us- from chipmunks to deer and anything in between.

man the bruise is bad today. my leg is pretty stiff but better than it was last night. should be able to get the beast into the shop today by pushing it. they would help but we should be able to handle it. we were trying to get it back in for a quote to upgrade the brakes so I guess we managed that. but they are closed Monday and Tuesday so it will be a bit before its back.

Glad to hear it's nothing worse than bruises and brakes. Good call on taking it in to get checked out though.

walked the bike to the bike store only .6 miles away I needed to walk to stretch out my leg. lucky I had planned on a brake upgrade so it will all get done at the same time.

Might want to go to the doctor to make sure no blood clot is forming. Better be rotating heat and cold to help that bruise. Our son broke a rib by landing on his handlebar. He was in pain for weeks!

going now can be tricky and every-time I go I never get any help but it seems ok just stiff I can walk and that makes it feel better. but I have a doc appointment Thursday so if there are problems it can be checked.

Geez I hate it when that happens. Adrenalin initially lies to to you; ´that didn hurt´ But the next day is a different story. Then you try not
to freak out. That´s what pain killers are for; maintain mobility, & carry on! In a month it will only bother you when you first get outa bed.
In couple years you´ll be good as new.🤪

It hurt right away I could hardly walk. Check out this bruise it ran down my leg. I can’t take pain meds but it hurts worse while sitting. I was able to ride yesterday so that’s good.

OUCH and double ouch! ☹😢

I have used a product called Arnicare. Makes bruises disappear in half the normal healing time. Has worked for me and available at most drug stores.
Heal fast!

And another thing, it’s ok to simply rest and allow your body to heal.

Thatś a good one alright; hopefully no tears, tendons, or joints involved. Nothing like trauma & hematoma to heighten one´s
situational awareness. I´m a bit nervous about dogs. Several have attempted suicide by bike running in front of me. I have a scar the
size of a 50 cent piece just above my achilles tendon from a pitbull & have stomped a doberman´s jaw into the pavement
on one occasion. I can usually tell if a dog means to give chase. If uncertain, I slow way down so as not to trigger pursuit & talk to the dog.

I was attacked by a Doberman while riding up a steep hill back in the 70s. Damn thing jumped up and latched onto my tricep and tried to drag me off the bike. I poked it hard in the eyes, it let go and I rode down the hill as fast as I could for almost 6 blocks with it running after me. I went back later with a friend and a pipe and found the ‘owner’. I told him he’d better keep that dog tied up or I’d make damn sure it never had a chance to get a child in it’s sights. I also tipped the police about it.

it is getting better pretty fast well all but the bruise doc checked it out. ya I am really careful on bike paths when people are walking dogs. had one in a yard some after us we may have hit him with the rear tire.
