First ebike - Electra Townie conversion

I've been following EBR since around 2015 after catching the Copenhagen Wheel on CBS - Innovation Nation.

Since then the e-bike tech has come along way. Last month I converted my Townie to electric with a rear hub Bafang kit from Bluenergy.

Wow, nice job. I agree with Jo, really clean looking. And welcome to the circus.

BEST frame for a conversion. NICE! All my bikes are Townie or clones, TrekPure and KHS Smoothies! Older riders dream ride!
The newest Bafang gear drives are very powerful and SMALL. Very stealthy!

Very stealth looking bike. Nice job. I have a similar bike I'm thinking of converting. Mine is really comfortable to ride because of it's pedal forward feature like yours.

Thanks again for the kind words.

The clean installation is owing to the completeness of the Bluenergy kit. It had all the necessary cabling, color coded plug-n-play connectors between endpoints, controller enclosure, torque washers, spacers and more.

Most important is I wanted to maintain the existing drive-train characteristics. 38T up front and 11-32T in the rear.

Bafang mid-drive kits were easy to find online. Direct drive hubs too. But a kit with a Bafang geared hub motor, cassette compatible, quality pre-built wheel, matching controller, and all pieces and parts seemed elusive.

eBike.ca has Bafang kits! AND real torque sensors for a BB!
