After a lot of previous EV projects I've assembled a good source of suppliers. I decided to spec out all the parts needed for a complete conversion.

1000 watt 48 volt DD hub motor, 26" wheel, battery bag, controller, thumb throttle, and pedal sensor from Amazon. $234.50 http://www.amazon.com/Electric-Batt...p/B00GIXZKP8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

52 volt nominal (48 volt) 21 ahr LiFePO4 prismatic cells with series bus bars. 3C (63 amp discharge) 0.33C standard charge rate, 19.2 lbs. Total of 32 cells in a 16S2P configuration. $587.20. http://www.electriccarpartscompany....-in-186-116-46-mm-br-06-lbs-029-kg_p_578.html

360 watt LiFePO4 charger matches above battery's charge profile. 3.3 lbs. $52.00 http://www.evassemble.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=170

Total cost $873.70

Reviews of the above motor has a 220 lb rider doing 0~30 mph in 6 seconds on cheap lead acid batteries, expect better with LiFePO4. Range reported with 12 ahr SLA with light pedaling is 20 miles. Remember LiFePO4 do not have near the Peukert effect of SLA, so same rating would have increased usable ahr. Extrapolates to at least a 40 mile range.

You need a long lead time for the charger from my past experience with the company, good products, 1+ month delivery.

Thanks for the link, Neptronix is a good read, he knows his stuff. Endless-sphere forum is a better natch for me, but I'm still waiting for my confirmation email from registration to be able to post.
