Ebikeling mystery

A pal declined my advice and biught an eBikeling kit from Amazon . The motor cuts out at a stop and the display blank too. It immediately recovers but does this constantly.

He’s checked every connector, used my watt meyer to confirm its not sag, checked brake cutouts, essentially all we can think of short of a new display and or controller. None of my Grin kits have ever displayed this sort of behavior. Me? I’d donate it to a local HS bike class and start over. I’m just not a cheap display and featureless controller fan. I originally suggested a BBSHD. Ive never been stumped with BBSxx motors.

Next?

I forgot to mention the display battery percentage constantly changes. Bum display or hes missing an intermittent short?

So he pulls up to a stop sign and the power shuts down the whole system? You're saying it "immediately recovers". Is it doing that by itself (if so, how long does that take?), or is he turning the power off and then back on again to get the recovery?

Or are you saying it goes down while accelerating away from a stop?

Not an eBikeling fan here either. -Al

I guess i need to clarify with him. As i now understand it it momentarily cuts out, blank display and restarts. I’m thinking he restarts from the display. Ive not ridden it. He disconnected the brake cutouts and claims it sometimes runs on for a few seconds after stopping pedaling or releasing the throttle, i hate the idea of riding it but that may be the only way to answer you correctly.

As I understand him it doesn’t cut out taking off from a start. Sadly he’s our age and a total drunk after 3PM.

Easiest (and most likely cause) is to change the display.
Assuming it's a BBSxx, a programming cable and the SPEEED app are the cheapest way to do so and have use afterwards even if the display is not the issue.

cuts out riding and when having come to a stop. Seems now he says the odometer is whacky.

In my experience these displays can have different firmware.

i went over and found his settings were whacked. Jeebus. Phone support with the clueless....

seems fine after redoing his settings.

I had no trouble switching from a DPC18 to a 750C. Plug and play, but that's Bafang to Bafang.

All bets off when it comes to ebikling.

Just saw you have it fixed. GOOD JOB!

Frustrating having to parse bad information and sorting Chinglish instructions. Jeebus I don’t miss being a customer support fella.,. It’s an adventure. But it was easier not having a vested interest . Thsnks for the support and ears to bounce ideas off of.
