I am avid cyclist who owns several bikes(Focus Di2 Cayo, Bike Friday, Birdy, Brompton) I currently own one ebike( Electra Cruiser and added 2nd gen Electronwheel) which I bought 3 years ago ...since at the time couldn't make any decision on buying an ebike.....many were too pricey and didn’t meet my expectations ...
Recently I learned that Electronwheel is out of business , was not surprised since it hasn’t come put with any new product....but it does well with my Electra Cruiser ....I guess if it breaks , I just put the Original front wheel back ...which the bike shop tech where I bought the Electra said buying Electronwheel was a good idea....since he di say if the motor of an ebike breaks thats it ......
but its a pity Electronwheel is out of business....
Another ebike I liked was Faraday’s Civic edition ...but now seems Faraday will be gone ....
I did order an ebike recently from indiegogo knowing the risks ( called The One /United City Bike/UCB), was supposed to be delivered July ...but delayed and probably delivery my next month or January ..... I am from Japan and I go once a year back home usually bringing my Brompton or Bike Friday....but thought will be nice to have a foldable ebike when i go there, also knowing that I will be probably paying 25% tax if shipped to USA...
The good thing about this company ( UCB ) does leave comments and gives updates( not enough most backers think ) , I‘ve seen other Indiegogo ebike projects with lots of problems(delay/no delivery/no response etc) , so I think its better than others .....
The only problem with UCB was the folding bike they are selling was an actual Chinese bike that was made 2-3 years ago and they rebadged it ( they do say they made modification, and the Chinese companyJaunty Bikes needed to market outside China ) ... This came to be aware by one of the backers found out about it .....They weren’t upfront about it.... but just hoping that my bike will be delivered ....but I think this company after all the delivery they wont last long......like many crowd funded ebike /bike companies ...
There are other interesting ebikes on indiegogo but yet to see how they perform ... interesting ones are Calamus & Fuell ..... but its difficult to survive in this field....
Still looking for a good ebike for me though ....good thing is price is dropping a little(Not low enough) and motors/battery are getting better ....
