E bike for wifey.

She is going to need one in order to ride with me. She likes the classic/cruiser style so one of those " townie" bikes would probably be perfect. Not sure I could find a suitable donor bike, step through, disk brakes, bottom bracket able to take a BBS02 without trouble. Going to take some research......

Have her ride multiple times before taking the plunge. I am trying to sell eBiking to my wife, and so far, I have failed.

Mine is a luddite at heart. Prefers a single speed coaster break. I know it's possible to do an ebike this way but it would seem to be quite limiting.

My wife took some talking into a couple of years ago to get an ebike. Once she test rode a Como 3, it was a done deal. Is was all about comfort and ease of riding while in the sitting position (upright).

My wife wanted an ebike but had no interest in test riding, regardless of my attempts to convince her to do so. She bought a Trek Allant+ 7, which turned out to be a disaster. She fell the first time on it. That single failure got into her head and she fell nearly every time she attempted to ride it thereafter. She can ride a bike, but for some reason this thing intimidated the hell out of her. Of course, not having tried it before buying, it wasn’t a good fit for her, which certainly contributed to her difficulties, but it was the fear factor in large part.

I sold it at a $1000 loss with maybe 20 miles on it, and she then bought a Rad Mini Stepthrough. I hate that bike with its cadence sensor. Sure, it’s fun if you want to use the throttle and ride around on a limited-power motorcycle, but when pedaling, it feels like you’re faking it, due to the amount of assistance, even at the lowest level. She, on the other hand, is in love with it, so I don’t mind having it in the garage at all.

My advice, step away and let her figure it out. You may actually be assuming she needs one, and in her mind she may see that as you insisting she needs one. That never goes well. Just using the word "wifey" would be a start on the wrong foot. LOL

I like some of the Electric Bike Company offerings with their simplified drive trains. She is going to need an e bike in order to ride with me.

It was about comfortable ride posture and ride for my wife. She'll shift maybe once for every 10 times I shift. No, not using the throttle (no more than I do which is rarely). She like's to ride at a fairly low cadence (compared to mine), and muscle here way through situations where I would downshift, doing that in the name of exercise.... Not my style for sure, but I learned a long time ago not to be critical. We've been riding partners for quite a while now.

She takes no offense at that term. Been married 38 years and it keeps getting better.

I will try to get her to test one, perhaps a single speed hub drive. It's pretty flat to the grocery and along the lake.
