No, not really:rolleyes:

Here in the Northeast US we've had weeks of extremely cold weather. A cold snap I haven't seen in some time. Mornings well below zero Fahrenheit and afternoons in the low teens (zero F = minus 18 C). I think the coldest day I ever rode my ebike was 9 in the morning and 14 to return home. Range was dramatically affected! That was 3 winters ago and I decided after that year I would not chance those temperatures again.

At the beginning of this current cold snap, I put the bike up and removed the battery to place in a warmer spot and put an 80% charge in it. Today was to be much warmer, so I thought I might ride. I got the battery out to add charge and hit the charge indicator button on the inside and nothing! I was surprised. I thought my 2 year old battery lost all its charge sitting on the shelf. Then I remembered the battery management system (BMS) has a deep sleep mode, and I thought it must have gone to sleep on its own. I plugged the charger in and instantly had 80% back.

Apparently the battery lost little to no energy in the past few weeks or so. It's the first time I hadn't ridden the bike for any extended period, so it's the first time I experienced this deep sleep mode, except when the bike was brand new out of the box. It's a good thing, this deep sleep to protect the battery. Some other bike battery packs have the same type of BMS, I know the Yamaha battery packs do. I assume deep sleep is triggered by time and non use, but I don't know how much time is required.

A warning label on the inside channel of the battery compartment on the bike:

A big sigh of relief:oops:

Glad everything is working fine.
May be it will help if you charge the battery 100% once a month :)
