Creak from rear wheel

Hi guys, next problem........ sduro Trecking 4, less than 200 miles. After removing my rear wheel and tyre to replace the inner tube ( another story), after reassembly I am now getting a loud creak just as the bike comes to a halt with rear brake applied. Happens even if I am just pushing the bike, so do not think it’s drive chain related. Ive checked rear caliper for binds etc but cannot see a cause. Rear wheel appears to be seated correctly and no, it’s not my old bones!Noise appears to be coming from rear of bike. Anyone any ideas as to cause?

spokes? I've also gotten a creaking noise from the quick release axle. I rotate the "nut" so it feels like the knurled face lines up with the previous locking marks and make sure it's tight. That usually fixes it. No idea why or how that works, but it's appeared a couple of times after removing the wheel.

Thanks Rich, aligning the nut may be the way to go......I’ll certainly give it a go tomorrow.......when it’s lighter - and warmer lol!
