Wow. I thought that was me posting this! LOL. I just purchased a small "Nearly Black" 3.0 for my wife and a "Platinum" 2.0 for me (great deal) from Eastern Shore Cycles in Daphne, AL. The Bike Shop in Foley, AL is freakin awesome and part of the same store.
They told me that Specialized sent them the new LCD unit that comes on the 3.0 and they updated all the software and it now connects to the Mission Control App. It is identical to the newer bike!
The new LCD actually does have a USB plug-in. It is on the bottom after taking it apart. It is only for updating the software by a Specialized dealership. I know because the shop had to update the new bike to the newest software before it worked correctly with the Mission Control app LOL.
I am pretty sure if you talk to the shop where you got them and/or Specialized, you will get an updated LCD control unit. Hope this helps!
