Charging battery

Ok can I charge my electric bike battery, while I am using it

I have a solar system for electricity, no mains only solar.

So I understand about charging my bike battery from solar.

I do it every day.

What about charging my electric bike battery from my solar system while I am actually using the bike?

Will that work?

Thanks

I would think you would want some sort of controller to prevent over charge, but I don't see why you couldn't from a theoretical standpoint. From a more practical standpoint, clearly there are a TON of variables. Current battery state of charge, discharge rates, size of panel, etc. Most likely going to be some thought behind it with some tinkering involved....

I think I'm giving up on charging the battery as I use it.

My trike arrives this coming week I hope.

So it is a 36v system.

Which is the same as the ebike I have.

So I have taken off the battery cage etc from my ebike and now I am left with the battery and 1 red and 1 black wire.

Which is showing 42.4v.

So that is the actual power coming from my full battery.

So can I connect this to my trike.

Directly into the wiring of the trike?

I think so.

I take the trike battery out.

Then connect this battery directly to the wires that are going from the trike battery to the trike controller and Bob is my uncle?

Maybe!

If you have a 36v battery with 18650 cells 42.4v is OVERCHARGED. VERY BAD IDEA!
If you are considering wiring two batteries into the vehicle that’s another really bad idea.

Well I think it is highly unlikely to be over charged!

Because it works perfectly on the bike.

And I only use the original charger to charge the battery.

No I am Not going to try to use 2 batteries at the same time.

I would have to be an idiot to NOT understand that.

But as I'm only half an idiot.

A fully charged cell is 4.2v you have ten cells in series. That’s 42V. 42.4 is overcharged or your multimeter is off. Overcharged batteries are a risk. Period.

Ok so got the trike.

Have to say had no idea how difficult a trike is to control.

Crashed 5 times but getting the hang of it now.

So I found that once you take the battery out of the trike.

There are 2 pins, 1 red + and 1 black -

So I have connected the Ebike battery to the pins and it works great.

Actually very easy because they have left the access to the pins in the open.

So I need to go and find 2 female pins that fit.

So off to the electrical wholesaler.
