Carbon brushes

Does anybody know if Aotema ebike from China is still in business? I need a set of carbon brushes and can not connect with them either via email or telephone. Does any body out there know where I can obtain these brushes for a 36VDC FWD motor. These brushes are a bit strange as there are tapered.

A check on the 'net shows them here: https://www.aotema.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2 Nowhere on their site do they show brushes for sale as a repair part. Worth a free email to try and contact them to see what kind of response you get.

Pending that and not holding my breath waiting for a positive, proactive response from them, if that were my bike, I'd seek out Electric Motor Repair Shops in your area to see what the experts have to say. They, more than anyone else, might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Good luck and let us know what you find. It might be of help to the next person who comes along in need of these brushes.

Looking at the Contact Us form on the Aotema site and they show this address and phone number:
Victoriz Inc
721 Crestview Dr
Pinole, CA 94564

415-496-6867

The funny thing? Google up the address and you come up with a nice looking suburban home on Zillow. LOL.

Try these cats, but definitely see what your local electric motor repair folks can do for you!

Thanks for the reply Mike. I’ve tried contacting Aotema in California via their website. Phoned them and it rings two short beeps and disconnects, tried email but no reply. I’ve contacted a mayor carbon brush manufacturer and they will make me a few for hundreds of dollars but will have trouble due to the copper content(40-50%). Finally they said they wouldn’t do it. I’ve trie talking to them about selling me a larger set of brushes so I could cut and file to suit. Again they said that they didn’t have the copper content in their brushes.

Flight, looking at that California address on google earth and their garage appears to be stuffed to the top with stuff. Somewhere I'd think they'd have what you need. Odd that they don't bother to pick up. Not surprising though. When a ebike motor manufacturer has a suburban home in California as it's lead US distributor, well, that sends up alot of warning signals of what service after the sale is going to be like.

I would still try your local electric motor repair shops. They won't certainly try to sell you a run of a hundred brushes like a brush manufacturer would require you to do, but they just might be able to match up something already available that could be modified by you to make it work. I hope it works out for you.

Thanks Mike, I guess I’ll just have to find brushes a little bit bigger and cut and file to suit. Thanks again for your input.
