I had been using a piece of hollowed-out pool noodle that I put around the top frame so the clamp wouldn't damage the paint (yes, the clamp jaws are plastic/rubber, but they still leave a mark on the the paint).
On our last RV trip, while driving down the freeway, the clamp slipped free and my wife's Pedego Commuter fell over, with the end of on of the handle bars dragging on the pavement. Because we were in a big A class motorhome I didn't realize the bike had fallen over until another motorist honked their horn and pointed towards the rear of our rig.
Surprisingly, the only damage was the end of the handle bars that was dragging on the road. Wore off about two inches of the bar end!
As soon as I got back home I ordered a pair of the frame protectors.
