I could say never, but then we never exactly know what's in a software update, certainly not enough to know how rash it might be to update immediately an update is announced.
But I think something is going on with firmware updates at the moment, which is why I'm posting here rather than in a separate thread.
My Kiox just told me that there is a firmware update available, and do I want to update, via the e-connect app. The new firmware is apparently version 4.0.4.0. But the Bosch website you can look up to see what the latest revision actually is says 4.0.2.0, which is what's in my Kiox.
I think there certainly needs to be an update to Battery firmware from 1.10.8.0 , as last month I set my PowerPack 400 to charge, and came back later to find the Kiox saying 99% charged, but the battery pack itself was flashing lights 1, 3 and 5 and the battery was hot, although the charger was cool.
So Bosch has a smart battery, with a BMS that can detect an overtemp problem, presumably in the cell balancing part of charging, but the BMS isn't smart enough to stop whatever it was doing and protect its battery. Instead it waits for its human to come along and disconnect the charger. It would seem that those people who use timers on their charger were right all along. What use is a BMS like that? I'll just have to wait and see how much life the battery has lost.
And I'll wait for early adopter feedback on Kiox FW 4.0.4.0. Wonder what happened to 4.0.3.0?
