Buy from Frey vs Alibaba

When I go to Frey site it looks like you can buy from Frey or Alibaba. Anyone have experience on where to buy a Frey ebike

Frey has been pretty good about support. If they are on Aliexpress and take PayPal, you have some protections. Alibaba may not have the same protections.

The way it works is you contact Frey via email and let them know the options you want. They will set up an invoice and have you go through Alibaba if you want to pay with credit card (you pay the Alibaba credit card processing fees or alternate fees if you choose another method) or you can wire payment to Frey.

tomdav, so Alibaba is just a clearing house for the payment part but the shipping etc. is from Frey. So you can pay via wire payment directly to Frey?

I believe so if you're comfortable doing that and not having any recourse through Alibaba or your credit card company. For me the credit card rewards were pretty much a wash against the fees so went that route for additional protection. Also, I recall one situation where scammers injected themselves between Frey and the buyer posing as Frey and the buyer almost sent wire to the scammer so I would be very careful sending a wire.

Email Frey directly to set up the purchase. Pay through Alibaba. I don’t see Frey on Aliexpress.

Use some common Sense Remember ALI baba had 40 thieves If you do the right searches you'll find people get scammed with them.

Lots of people get scammed on Alibaba. All Alibaba really does is give you an opportunity to learn about a product and connect directly what the manufacturer. They are nothing like Amazon. You have to do your own research on the manufacturer. Frey looks very legit to me.
