This kind of dilutes the new Bosch I feel. The "whisper" quiet thing means alot to people. The battery must be 21700 cells to get 630wh in that size case. Although they list 4 different Types I would imagine it is the same motor with different programming. The touring option that optimizes for range is a nice feature.

Bosch created the mid-drive segment. With its run away success, others followed, but are playing catch up, though Brose's belt drive is a plus.

Regardless the Specialized OEM for Brose is huge in market share. Take a look at the amount of companies, many of whom don’t have a US presence, that spec them also. I don’t think the divide is that large actually.

By offering the bike manufacturers a complete system with motor, controller software, battery and display Brose can compete with Bosch, Shimano and Yamaha. The bike manufacturers that still want to do their own software and build battery packs can apparently continue to do so but I think a complete system will be attractive to bike builders.
I think it will be very interesting to see which companies will choose this Brose system. What do you think, will we see this in the 2021 model year bikes?

And a side note, Brose (like Bosch) is a huge manufacturer of many types of electric motors; HVAC, engine cooling, drive train, steering, brakes, windows, etc. Over 200 million motors annually.
Not sure what percentage the ebike market is for them.
I'll take my Bose motor over my Bosch motor any day! It's like have a favorite pet.
