Bosch Performance lights activation

Just purchased Bosch headlight, Supernova rear light and wiring for my Felt nine-e. From what I have seen and read attaching the lights to the motor doesn't look like a big deal. Does anyone know if there is a software upgrade to activate the lights?

I would say it depends on the bike. On the majority of eMTB you need to bring the bike to the dealer and have them activate the light functionality. If you hit the light button and you get the lights on notice then you are all set. Otherwise you will need to have it activated.

As grinch shared you will need to use the Bosch lighting wires and you will need a dealer to turn the light option on with their service tool.

Would you mind sharing where you purchased the wiring and rear light? My Trek came with a front light only.

I purchased the Supernova E3 2 Taillight with the Seat post mount on Ebay from bikewagon. They had a competitive price and timely shipping. Any of the Bosch dealers in your area should be able to order the wiring harness for you. For all of you with a Felt electric bike mine is the nine-e 20 they come with the front light already pre-wired. You can find it in the wiring coming out of the top of the frame. You will have to buy the Bosch rear harness if you are going to use back lights. If you want your light ports on the motor activated you will have to take it to a Bosch certified dealer. If you purchased the bike there they should do the activation for free. If you are near Laguna Beach CA Kevin at Electric Cyclery has the know how, can to do the activation and usually has the wiring harnesses in stock. Tell Kevin Jeff sent you. Hope this helps all of you that are thinking about using the bike battery and console switch on your Bosch powered bike. It wasn't easy getting a straight answer on activating the light ports. Good luck and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. When I get a chance I will post some pic's of my install.

How bright is it? it seems EU stuff is not as bright as what we find in the us. it looks pretty visible from the side. I ended up repacking both the tail lights on my bosch powered bikes becauseI had stuff catch under the fender and tear the wiring out.
