BionX batteries

Hello e-bikers, I have an e-bike kit on a standard bicycle. We use it quite a bit to commute the 30 km to town, at least one way, and put it on the roof of the electric car the other way. This works well. Yesterday I came home with the battery fairly empty. I plugged it in and nothing happened. I checked that there was power and cleaned the contacts. Now, when I plug it in, there is a very faint noise and the red light around the plug comes on for a few seconds. Then it goes out. The battery does not charge. It is not even three years old. Has anyone experienced this? Are there any suggestions? Thank you in advance. Christoph.

It may be the battery management system chip (BMS) is shorted out, but post on the Bionx forum https://electricbikereview.com/forums/forum/bionx/ and maybe someone can help troubleshoot what the problem might be. There may be some companies still willing to work on recelling Bionx battery packs but if the BMS is shot you might be looking at converting the kit to remove the controller, unfortunately Bionx don’t work with other batteries, so you would need to replace the controller to get the motor to work with a generic replacement battery. Grin Tech in Vancouver produced a video of the conversion process, it’s fairly radical and you would lose the torque sensor
