I just hose mine down and use a toilet brush for the tough spots.

Best thing is to ride as little as possible in the water if it is an Ocean Beach. Also keep your chain well lubed and it helps to use a die-electric grease on all connections that you can get to. And stick to the tideline re the darker hard sand. Riding in soft sand is hard on the equipment and range.
