BBS02 ebike shuts down while riding

My ebike with bafang bbs02 and 48v 14 ah battery started to shut down recently. It's a couple years old with 500 miles or so. If I wait a minute and cycle the battery's power, I can turn on my display and ride again. But it shuts off within seconds of riding.

I inspected the bike and found scorch marks and melted plastic around the connection on the battery bracket. So I paid a local shop $70 to install a connector that I supplied. Unfortunately I still have the same problem. The charge indicator on the battery shows a full charge, and it reads 52.4 volts on my multimeter.

How do I diagnose further? Could it be the controller in the motor?

In my opinion, probably the battery.

Make sure your meter is accurate, Check it against your charger, which should be 54.6V, If your bike is shutting off at 52 volts. it's likely to be severely unbalanced. It should run down to 40-42 volts,

Maybe a friend has a battery you can borrow, That's the easiest way to tell, I've had this happen twice with two batteries back in 2021, They were also cutting out just after coming off a charger,

THere are other things you can try. I'll ;et others talk about them.
