Bafang Ultra loss of pedal assist functionality

Yeah, the pedal assist mode doesn't seem to be working. It actually does work a little bit, but it is putting out even less power than it used to on the lowest pedal assist setting regardless of which setting it is on. Perhaps the torque sensing mechanism is not working properly?

The throttle is working fine for now, so i can still use my bike which is good because it's my main transportation to work and everywhere else. I live in southeast Alaska and it has been cold and the bike lives outside mostly so it has been living a fairly hard life. I take the battery inside when im not using it and sometimes take the bike inside to thaw out the shifter and brakes and let everthing dry out. I have had to replace the display unit once because it was damaged and i couldn't change pedal assist modes or turn it off anymore

I really love my bike. I am planning on getting a whole new Ultra motor kit from alibaba at some point to have a spare that i can swap out when i need to do maintenence. Thank in advance to anyone with any advice for me about troubleshooting and maintenance.

Have you tried thawing the bike indoors for 24 hours to see if ice/condensation isn't causing you grief?

Yes, i did. To be specific, i first noticed the problem today when using it after having had it inside about a day with a big fan blowing on it. It was nice and warm when i took it to work and that's when i noticed the problem.

I rode it yesterday when it was all iced up. It had gotten a bit warmer for a few days then went cold again. Thats bad because the snow and ice melts and gets into stuff and then freezes again. To be honest it might have started then. I'm not really sure because I was in a hurry and was just going full bore on the throttle the whole time.

Have you double-checked that the speedometer magnet is still reading consistently? Cadence sensor too... (Speedo sensor, is easier to check though!)

Any of the three (including the torque sensor), could present an issue similar to what you describe...

If it turned out to be a display issue, theoretically you could configure the motor-controller using the Config Tool desktop app, to get the PAS working again, & use the ebike with no display connected...?

Please do let us know what you find out! Other Bafang Ultra owners would like to know!
