Hey All,

I just received my Aventon Aventure and went on a 10 mile ride. I noticed that the motor is quite loud, 80db on my Apple Watch.

For any of you that have this bike, is this normal?

Thanks

Mine makes some noise more like a steady cadence noise with a slight hum

First off I wouldn't trust a crApple watch to be accurate on DB while in motion. Wind noise ALONE at 20mph on their crappy little mic would register "80db" when it isn't.

That said, if it's actually that loud; louder that riding in the back of a pickup truck at 70mph; as loud as a deisel train from 50 feet away.... there's definitely something wrong with it.

As someone with a trained ear, I'd ballpark the noise of the motor on my Aventure as being closer to 60db, about half that of a vacuum cleaner. Might be something for me to bench test, I do have the proper gear to do it.

True about the watch. I sent a video to support and they are sending me a new full wheel assembly

Thanks

Just for reference I propped up the rear end of my Aventure just to see what the motor itself at full RPM put out for DB with a real meter, and I came up with 50.12db at 3 feet, 56.8db at one foot, which I'd rank as "acceptable" for the claimed <=55db that Bafang advertises as their "noise grade".

... which is utter BS when they don't list at what distance. Kind of like the rubbish when marketers talk about "share" over various years, whilst omitting how big the pool was.

Also did a muffed road test, and with tire and road noise I got 64db, which is fine.

Be nice if the manufacturers listed things like expected noise levels including the distances their "ranking" is done at, since excess noise is one of the easiest ways to tell if something is busted.
