Availability update...

Had a Haibike between my knees today, felt nice. Did not ride. So what is up with the print on the top tube stating 250 watt motor, 36 volt, 20 mph. All the reviews are specifying 350 motor. My dealer was a little meh on the Haibikes, one needed a firmware update and another had a dead light. I told him I was considering the FS, but I doubt he will stock it anytime soon. The E3 Peak DS would be a good match since I already have 2 batteries, but I do like the Haibike build, tapered head tube, large brakes, etc. -S

Edit: Just saw Larry say it is 350 watts, so it is probably a euro centric label. I wonder what is the life expectancy of the Bosch drive.

The walk button has been disabled on US bikes, but I just received the below email noting the walk function will be enabled coming soon and can be later enabled on bikes that don't currently have it. See below:

"Just an update for you today on the Bosch Walk assist mode function addition. As many of you know the Walk Assist function in the USA was omitted pending a safety review. There is a formal review of these safety requirements on Dec 4th, and then the formal application for the USA market. This will be retrofittable to all systems in the USA right now, and we should see this file from them in January! So for your customers asking for this, rest assured it will happen. The only thing needed would be a software update on your end, and then the walk assist button will function when depressed."

This is exciting news!

Any update on this? I saw the video of Court on a PowerFly 8 FS with the walk assist working...

Ultimately they decided with a different solution that isn't compatible with the older systems. It's actually a two step activation for safety purposes. You need to tap the walk button and hold the plus button. I guess they needed to make a slight hardware change in order to enable this. I don't have much more info other than it's not compatible with the pre 2017 models. I know this is a real bummer for those that have been waiting for this. I'll try to get some more information when I can.

Chris,

I have a 2017 Trek PowerFly 8 fs. I took it to the shop and their software shows that walk assist is enabled but press release the walk button, then press and hold the + button has no effect. Is there a way to check the build date of my CX motor? Perhaps it is only enabled on motors build after a certain date.

Also I contacted Trek directly and they said it should not be enabled an that they are trying to get a "correction" of the video posted whatever that means.

It's up to the OEM if they enable it. The switch on the dealer side won't do anything unless the it was enabled at the factory. It sounds like Trek didn't enable it.
