Seems 85cm is too short but haven’t tried it yet. Just got it and wondering if I should return it.

It’s s for use in the city , has anyone had issue with the 85 and later went for the 110cm one ?
It weights a few lbs already this one, the longer one will be even heavier.
But it has a solid storage(frame or seatpost), so at least it won’t bounce around like the chain locks.

Also i see the Abus Bordo with Alarm , but in only 90cm . Would that be a better choice since it has the Alarm ? But the plates are 5m compared to 5.5mm on the other one.

I have the alarmed Abus. The one issue is tha I leave it at home when I know that I’ll be locking up on a shared bike rack, like in a university setting. The alarm is quite sensitive, and I’ve found it doesn’t take much jostling for it to bump up to full alarm mode.

I also own the shorter Abus Bordo, guessing it’s the 85cm. A longer one came with my RM Charger. Obviously the bike has to be pretty close to what you’re locking to. It gets pretty tight if I use the Nevo downtube, but there’s never been a situation where I wasn’t able to use it. It’s annoying sometimes, but also makes it a bit harder to defeat if in a tight space.

Here is another option from Kryptonite available in both 33" and 39" lengths.

I have the Abus alarm and use it a lot, it came mounted on my Watt Wagons Commuter Pro. I also purchased the motion detector alarm someone posted a link to on a previous thread, it's just an alarm no cable or chain and it can be operated by remote control, $14 on Amazon, I use it if I'm sitting near the bike having coffee etc.

I like the alarmed one. I’ve seen people touching the. Handlebar/pedals and just imagining that they were riding the bike, some are trying to mess with the saddle, etc. i have Abus on the seatpost/wheels...
In the City especially Ny a Bordo + another Granite Xtreme U Lockk moto version is a must.
And a motion alarm/disk brake alarm on top of those!

I find it irritating when people start playing with my bike, I've even had parents lift their kid up and put him on the seat and let him/her play with things. I think locks with an alarm or even a separate alarm is good, not that an alarm by itself will prevent a theft.

This (people playing with the various devices on a bike) and people asking “How much the bike costs “ are 2 issues that come with purchasing an ebike.

Why they don’t go to a driver and say

Nice ride ...“ How much you pay for that car ??” .

Really , i had never seen that happening...

Do our ebikes look more expensive then a Lamborghini ??

It happens all the time with expensive cars...

Ebikes are perceived as being more expensive than regular bikes... so the same questions arise. ;)

Only 2x today i was questioned. Usually it’s 3-4x when i’m out and doing stuff.

Instead of a blant answer and getting slightly annoyed i am now using this interaction as an opportunity to educate the people about the massive long term savings /health benefits and what is and why is an ebike 800$ or 8000$ .
