Is this a BBSxx series motor? If yes, you'll need a programming cable.

How do you know? It is a bafang 500w rear hub.

I'm not familiar with all hub motor controller programming. Most lower-end hub kits don't have programmable controllers. But I'm not qualified to help here. BBsxx series is the strongest in my knowledge base. Sorry.

Without knowing what controller you have, it's nearly impossible to know if you can, or how that might be done (if it's even possible).
