Long-time rider, need tire ideas, converting to a front-hub Dillenger ebike kit.

I've been riding for 30+ years, using a 1997 hard-tail Gary Fisher bike. I'm in the process of adding on a front-hub Dillenger e-bike kit.
Question - what considerations are there for changing out the tire I'm using? Does it need to be more tread, lower/ higher pressure, or does it not make much difference?
I currently ride Specialized Nimbus Armadillo (1.5 / 26").
