Focus Jam2 seat post bent?

Hi everyone, I purchased my focus jam2 back an April this year and haven't really used it. but I notice today that the seat post is bent.

Is the bike designed this way or is this a defect?


Can someone answer me or send me a pic of your seat post?

FWIW, that is the seat tube. It does not look right to me, but I don't own or know anything about Focus bikes to say. Some different pictures might help. When looking from the rear, is the saddle absolutely horizontal from left to right when the bike is vertical? Do you see any wrinkling of the paint on the left side of the tube where the bend is most pronounced?

the seat seems perfectly aligned, I was also able to dig up a picture I had snapped from when I first got it out of the box and it appears to be bent there as well. Is this a design thing? I can't imagine it being designed this way? Is this a defect? if so how can this be shipped like this, I should of paid more attention when I first got it....

However I am looking at this youtube video and they appear kind of bent, but I can't tell..

Asymetric mtb frames have been trendy for a few years - my norco optic looks like a mad scientist got left with a melting crayon late at night. Just try not to look down as you cycle, and hope you never have a bike vs shed roofrack incident because it'll be impossible to know if the bike was bent

Looks wonky to me. Looks like post was set in a bending jig incorrectly - can't be any rational reason to have such a bend - how do you insert your seat post with that seat tube so twisted?

The " bend" , or off set seat post is below the top suspension pivot point so it doesn't effect the ability to lower the seat tube.

The reason for off set seat posts is apparently an attempt to keep crank spacing normal whilst allowing for wider modern tyres. I first noticed it on my 2017 norco optic ( non ebike, 2.3 inch tyres) , but it's much more obvious on my giant full e pro ( ebike, 2.6 inch tyres)

Hi just an update, so following up with the bike store I purchased it from this is normal and by design.

They have also sent me pics of bikes in their store which is exactly the same.



Now with this all said I am no construction engineer but wouldn't a straight seat post be stronger....

The chainwheel is on the right, so the forces are asymetrical.

Having said that...I suspect the marketing department had more influence than the engineers....
