write flash

I having an issue everytime i try editing my settings connection drops. Like i click connect and it connects fine to bike, i click "READ FLASH" and my current settings show but after that the "READ FLASH" it goes gray and "WRITE FLASH" gets greyed out too. What could possibly be causing that...
