replace tube without removing wheel

I don't have an extreme aversion to fixing a flat on the road/trail, I usually have the tools and tube to repair it. Time can be a factor though, once I even patched a tube with a peal and stick patch without removing the wheel to save time. That thought came to mind when I ran across this...
