    redsport shock stem installation

1km of off road today. Hills enough to have to move my weight around lots. Definitely have to drop the elastomer firmness. Might as well have been the stock stem. Plan to update once I've tried 2 sizes lighter for a bit. Update - went quicker then I thought. lightest, yellow was too soft...

    redsport shock stem installation

The ShockStop is rigidly connected to the fork tube and handlebar. Its pivot bolt is firmly securing the two parts. No slop in the stem. The elastomers only allow vertical movement, and with the elastomer I have in now, that movement is pretty minimal, if any. You will have to ride with weight...

    redsport shock stem installation

I installed a shockstop stem on an ST1 yesterday. It mounts identically as the original stem. The spacing for the 4 screws that hold the face clamp were a different spacing than the original. Simply swapping the stem is a no-brainer. If the light mounts on the handlebar, and the clamp goes...

    2017 Racktime Trunk Bag Thread

nothing gets by you eh? lol Yes, I sure did. The elastomer was in backwards. It is obvious in the photo, and I picked up on it right away looking at the pic. Bit of fussing to get it sorted. Oddly it didnt change the seat feel, other than it gave me a bit more room to reach the bars.

    2017 Racktime Trunk Bag Thread

I picked up this Topeak bag that has saddlebags that zipper out on the side pouches. Nice feature is they dont interfere with peddling when deployed as saddlebags. The main compartment is pretty roomy in itself and has handled parcels from post office, snacks, fill-in groceries. Purchased the...

    Stromer ST1 battery compartment door

Had the stuck door over the winter. Got instructions from Scooteretti who provided a great response re removing screw at bottom bracket for the doors hinge. I didn't try that this spring however. Elected to try a dinner knife (carefully slid under the plastic trim ) to pry the door open. (make...

    Thudbuster / Body Float

Installed Thudbuster (non long travel) over the winter. Today is my second ride on it. Initially I thought my seat was loose. It moves easily when you get on it. Realized it was the seat taking up the initial slack on sitting. Its a non issue, just an anecdote, and going forward I wont even...

    Two Stromers, two problems

I'd swap controllers using the good battery, and see if the battery display issue goes with the bike or controller. I've had a bad controller myself. Re charging issue - using the same charger? with the non-charging bike and charging the battery directly? Looks if the battery runs the bike...

    The Stromer rack

Topeak use with paniers open or zipped up - plus a regular rack bag in centre. Used the rack time adapter to mount it. Doesn't interfere with pedalling.

Front end not balanced, shakes, wobbles

Dunno what all brands are made there, but in photos of the factory, Colnago frames at least are made in the same factory. Used to be Colnago had a mom and pop Italian image. Have to wonder how much is to stay competitive due to volumes required to satisfy orders, vs corporate greed - build low...

    Changing rear cassette on st2

I looked at an ST2 and it had the SunRace freewheel as well. Maybe its a production year thing. Was curious what upgrades were available. Shimano freewheels are crap, not I have the experience to make that comment, but of 3 shops I visited looking at upgrades 2 had that opinion. Shimano...

    Stromer st1 v1 sport

Any rack will fit. You dont need a disk brake specific model. Bosses on the dropouts. Front can be mounted to the crossbar under the seat - or use a 31.6mm seatpost collar on the seatpost and bolt through the supports and collar. Couple people had difficulty getting a 31.6mm to fit, but I...

Post pics of your Stromer here

I have the Abus 5700 - cheapest and lightest. It is long enough to get frame and wheel, or wheel or frame to a narrow post. Easy to deploy, and unlock (as long as you orient the keyway to be accessible when locking). The Arbus is difficult to use bolt cutters on. Watched vids. No lock...

    Brooks Saddle

I was looking at the same thing with my current Stromer saddle. Have it back all the way. Looked into offset seatposts, but largest offset I found was 25mm. The ST1's post if I measured correctly (center of bolt to center of post) came out at 30mm. So no post I can find with more than the...

    Hello from Vancouver Island

Limber 48V ~$1800 in Vic, $1600 on the web from Canadian dealers. Stromer ST1 Elite ~$3850 from Scooteretti Ottawa, with gold (large capacity) battery. Vic dealer stocks the Platinum for quite a bit more. I'm sure there's a Specialized dealer on the island, and the turbo has great reviews...
