Thanks, guys. All this just to ride up a stinking hill! 😎🍩

    Gear ratios and climbing

Hey, perhaps one of you math/numbers whiz folks can help a brother out here… two bikes, 1X setups, 1 to 1 ratios on each, one is 42:42, the other 36:36. Everything else being equal, which has more oomph for climbing, and how come? And since nothing else is ever equal, if the 36:36 bike has...

Specialized Tero 3.0 or Aventon Ramblas for “all purpose” e-bike?

And that’s why we have you around here!😎

Specialized Tero 3.0 or Aventon Ramblas for “all purpose” e-bike?

Thank you, sir! I know all about the limited power on the 1.1 motor on my Creo. Surprised they quote an artificially low number for the Tero 3. It certainly felt pretty lively to me, not unlike my (former) Toughroad, which I believe was reported at either 80 or 85Nm. Certainly more than I...

Specialized Tero 3.0 or Aventon Ramblas for “all purpose” e-bike?

Stefan, what’s your source on the torque of the Tero 3? Interestingly I tried one yesterday while out gettting a new wheel for my Creo at the LBS, and I have to say it felt stronger than I would have expected given that 50Nm reference. I was quite impressed… if you could put an 11-42 on there...

My Favorite Bike Trails in the Northeastern US

It’s only about ten miles from LP to Saranac. I plan on going up and riding this in the next couple of weeks, but I have to borrow back the Giant Toughroad Class 1 I gave to my son this year - I don’t dare try it on the Creo, since everybody up that way knows what a Creo is and the closer you...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Can’t wait to hear this ride report, Stefan! 16% ain’t no joke, and I would say that 26% is call the elevator time. Last time I did a 16+ on my Creo with 42/42 gearing I can’t say I enjoyed the experience all that much, but it does feel great when you get to the top! Maybe you can go steal that...

    Turbo Tero 3.0 vs 5.0

So Hemismith, which way did you end up going and how’s it working out?

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

A good reason to keep five or six sticks of dynamite in your panniers out there in the wilderness. Maybe a small chain saw also. It was fun throwing the Creo over this little obstruction a year or so ago.

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

There are recent rumors around about Giant releasing a new e road bike… maybe they should just brand it the RabH and get on with it. Nice graphic of those green hills all along the sides of the top tube.

I can never get over how gorgeous the place you live in is! The photographs are just stunning, all the time.

    Road-e for 2024?

It was, but had the redesign to incorporate the battery better into the downtube. They did reduce the size of the battery to make that all work though, and I don’t think that helped it. Very nice bike, though, and it would be nice to see Giant do another one.

Announcement & Update on EBR Ownership

Damn, Court, I used to love the Let’s Ride series you used to do… like that great one down in Baja (with Moni, for that matter), among a few others. You really built something excellent here, including a user forum that has somehow managed to not collapse under its own weight as times and...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Sorry to hear that, Stefan. I’ve been reading about and seeing your pics of this guy for quite some time now. Sounds like he went out properly though, if maybe a teeny bit early.

Babycaptain, take a look at Aerotech Designs, an outfit from Pittsburgh that has a lot of good stuff. Well made and seems to last forever, lots of big/tall choices.

    Turbo Tero 3.0 vs 5.0

I’ll jump in here as one of the semi official Spesh fans hanging around. First off, the Tero 5 is currently on sale at $3500, which I sort of assume you know, but which is a significant price drop from where it was. That said, the extra gear and the six more teeth on the low gear (42 vs 36)...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Always something new! First time this year on Riverview today and at the end, the 13% climb up to the power station has been redone in nice soft dirt covered by nice soft medium gravel. Up until this point, I hadn’t turned the assist on at all, but that’s what it’s for, I reckon.

Turbo Creo 2 Comp E5 (aluminum) is out, is a Vado SL 2 next?

Agreed. Mine is closing in on 6000 miles in a month or so. Best bike I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had a bunch of them over the years!
