Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

No motor March has now moved into no motor April :) I am quite enjoying the lack of noise as I cycle around. I am in training for a sporting holiday that will involve a few competitive ride outs and I want to be in tip top shape for that. The hardest thing will be adjusting to a hire shop road...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I feel I need to clarify that I have no problem with Balfes Bikes, they were certainly easy to deal with when I purchased the bike and the price of the bike was cheaper than anywhere else as well. The free 6 week check was done expertly as well I felt. The email I got suggested that they...

Expensive to maintain these things it seems. Just got an email asking me to book in for my 6 month service on my SL and it is £210 ($264)

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I would have thought that if you had a Sirrus and a Tero X then you have all bases covered, certainly no need for another bike to fund and maintain. The 15.5mph limit on the Vado SL does limit things if you are wanting to press on though. My Vado SL in Turbo mode is slower than my old 11kg...

I can recommend the Joe Blow booster pump - expensive but it certainly feels like a quality item. Great for tubeless. https://www.topeak.com/global/en/product/1322-JOEBLOW-BOOSTER

@MartsEbike Ah that's rough, I would be tempted to ask for a new bike at this stage as my confidence in that particular one would be shot. I can't be alone in wanting to know what the the actual cause of the issue is though.

Can I ask why you do not use the motor? Seems odd to pay double the price and carry 5 kg of extra weight and complexity each ride.

I know exactly what you mean. Running shorts in the summer and tracksuit bottoms in the winter for me.

It must be me but I really dislike the way SKS Speedrockers look on the bike from the photos. I bought the SKS X-Blade and I think it suits the aesthetics of the bike perfectly. Takes 20 secs to fit and unfit as well.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I would like to know how to do that. In summer I felt a bit of a dork having lights on with no way of switching them off. Less of a problem now it is winter I must admit.

    2025 Vado

@MartsEbike Did you get a Vado SL manual along with the springs? I rarely read manuals but just took a look at what came with the bike and it is a Vado manual not a Vado SL. No wonder it did not come with springs - looks as though I was given the wrong spares case :(

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

Bought a 80W 2 foot tubular heater with a thermostat that I fixed to the lower part of the wall that the bike leans on. I also got a heavy duty heat reflective blanket that i hang from the wall over the bike. The tube gets really hot to the touch so I will just chuck away the ineffective...

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

The problem is that the heating mat just doesn't work in low temperatures ie does not even get slightly warm. Move it into the house where it is more ambient and it switches on. Hopefully the tubular heater will not be as temperamental. I have bought a heat reflective blanket that I can cover...

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

Hey not your fault. I researched this fairly thoroughly and got a 45W one as in theory this should be more than sufficient if wrapped around the frame. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08HPDTPDW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 It's weird though, bring it in the house and I can feel the...

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

I bought one of those seedling heating mats and wrapped it around the battery. Complete waste of money as the mat will warm up if it is above 10 degrees (ie if it is indoors) but anything below that and it does not even get warm to the touch. Got a thermometer with min and max readings and it...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Indeed. My bike workouts rarely last more than 40 mins so shorts are perfectly fine for that kind of duration. If I need it for shopping or commuting then casual wear is perfectly comfortable I find. I am not planning on sweating so that is what the turbo setting is for :)

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I got the small as I am a EU 43 and they seem perfectly sized for me. Great pedals though, one of those purchases where you cannot see yourself buying any different in the future. I will be in the market for some clip-ins as an alternative in the new year though. I have another bike holiday in...
