Simple question on Vado cable routing

I realize this will make me seem pretty stupid to most of you but I don't want to take any chances. I noticed when I was going out for my first real ride that the left brake cable was flopping around and not secured to another cable by an obvious clip. It was also arching over my headlight then...

    Short Inflatable Sleeping Pads?

I checked out your link to the Big Agnes but it was OOS. However, they did have the Big Agnes Divide insulated pad in a short. A bit heavier but an R value of 4.5. Sounds comfy. Have you tried that brand? I'm thinking it could work for me too.

    Thinking outside the pannier

In my neverending search for companies who have excellent ethical standards when it comes to environmental responsibility in sourcing materials as well as making excellent products that they stand behind, I must say I really love Arkel. Their bags are so well thought out, beautifully...

    Some bicycle travel tips

Not to be pedantic; just sharing some Old Crone life experience (I'm 72). If you are not too ashamed to fly in those old clothes, they have enough life in them for someone less well off than you. I personally rescue clothing my son (and others) are tossing. Much of what I wear every day on the...

8+ months of research, 100s of hours, know what I need & want but can't find it

No need to be embarrassed! Long answer coming soon, I'm so overstressed and underslept from outdoor work and it's another story. I have it, I finally have the cranks swapped, now, if I can find where I left the pedals after using the vise in the woodshop to get them off, I'll be able to ride...

Wow, thanks for that video! As a kid, I only saw Cash as an old man with the lowest voice I ever heard. Those are some pretty pumps ;). If you saw a guy today wearing shoes like that , people would ask for their pronouns. 😁 BTW, thanks for the explanation of the phrase,"dancing on a pony keg" too.

She is a burro from the Havasu herd in the Nevada/California range. Also I'm light enough to ride her, she acts like I'm a puma on her neck when I get on. She's a much better pack animal and, where I live, she's more likely to get stolen than the bike! 😏 As for the smug vertically superior...

It's good that you cover your skin from the sun, as do I, but not drinking while you ride is courting danger. At 95 F I'm drinking at least a litre of water an hour. Not sweating in the heat can lead to hyperthermia, ,my man.

Well, the bike is finally ready for me, the LBS having swapped out the components to Deore so I could have shifters that my hands can work. Now, I'm looking for a ride to the shop so I can pick it up! It's going to be in the +90 degree range this week, too hot for me to ride, and I am way behind...

Yes, it has been a great disappointment to see that even the better bike manufacturers who traditionally provided bikes in a wider range of sizes have, like all corporations, prioritized profits over service. It seems that, unless they can sell a large enough number of units to maximize profit...

Sadly, I had to give up riding in the drops years ago with the damage in my hands; I started by putting aero bars on my Trek 520 but finally had to put upswept bars and kept the bar-end shifters. So I don't know what they make in road ebikes, but Trek still makes most of their bikes, including...

Ummmm, donk, not mule. She packs, I walk. It would take about two days...🤪 Thanks Stefan, this forum needs a Hug emoji for a reaction! 🤗 You caught me just in time... it's so tempting, especially when they spout misconceptions fed to them by the misinformation machine. 😎 🦓

After I read this last night I called the LBS at 7AM and got the owner in the shop and asked him if the bike was ready. He said he had been alone in the shop all week so was building it tonight. When I asked about delivering it he said he wouldn't be able to for at least a week because he was...

I actually don't know. I'm waiting to hear from the shop but I haven't called him because I'm still trying to figure out how to get there to pick it up, other than hitchhiking. 🤔

Thanks sc00ter. I wouldn't have survived if I hadn't been wearing full motorcycle gear. My brains would've been all over the road. Some of my friends think I'll be in more danger on an ebike but I don't think so! 🙃

I wish I had sold it before I put it back on the road. I hadn't ridden in 4 1/2 years because of my arthritic hands but last June I drove my Prius off the road to avoid a collision about to happen between a pickup truck and a tractor pulling a round baler. With no shoulder I drove down an...

I ordered the Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 on Sunday, left a message for the LBS owner on Monday to call me regarding components and didn't get a call back yet. I just called and the bike already arrived at his shop! I gave him your list of the M5100 group and he ordered them as we spoke. One...

    Specialized Vado 4 or Ride1Up Prodigy V2

No, I didn't change my mind (although that is not impossible). I ordered the Vado in black, although I haven't decided yet whether to turn that into a Zebra or a Bee. If the Gazelle mid-step frame had given me more standover clearance, I would have gone for the Medeo T10+ for the lighter weight...

Why? he asks. Well, first thing is that with my right hand barely functional or at least very painful most of the time, it took me over 3 hours just to put up hangers for two blinds on my window, not counting the prep work to get to the window frame and measure. Putting it together is...
