Turbo Como IGH, Como SL IGH & Vado IGH Chain Guard Recall

This is mentioned in a Como thread but I thought I would post a link to the official recall notice from Specialized as it affects a wider (but still quite narrow) range of Specialized eBikes that have an internal gear hub (IGH) More here...

    Not buying Specialized ebikes again.

Well if I weigh 180 lbs. and the bike weighs 60 lbs and I want to climb a 50 foot hill with a 8% grade, the amount of "work" to be done is the same regardless of the bike. Assuming my riding adds the same power on two bikes, a bike with 50Nm torque motor is going to be pushed much closer to it's...

    Not buying Specialized ebikes again.

Stefan: "are specific internal motor gears" I'm having trouble understanding what you are saying here, hopefully you can expand a bit so I can learn. Don't all bike motors have internal gears??? Does this relate to the motor on/off issue Prairie Dog discussed or the SL versus non SL versions or...

    A few questions about a Como 3.

Palmthree: Your needs may be simpler, but the bike's are not. It weights over 60 pounds and a standard bike rack will likely collapse under the weight. I could be wrong, but I don't think the Specialized warranty covers damage resulting from the bike crashing to the ground off the back a of car...

    Not buying Specialized ebikes again.

I have limited information to add here, but 2 things. 1) My Como SL makes way more noise than the non SL version of the bike... I think that the motor just has to work a lot harder and will likely not last as long... But what I'm really here to say is 2) in Indy where I am we have Specialized...

    A few questions about a Como 3.

Well I think MOST settings that the bike recognizes (not shuttle and responsiveness as they are not available for the Como) can be set without the app using the display head, just not as user friendly. But once set in the app, they stay that way so you don't HAVE to have the app with you on your...

    A few questions about a Como 3.

Well, there is lots more in the forum here about the new Specialized app and I would also point you to this Youtube video which goes into a good bit of detail about all the set up and functioning of the app with the bike. There is no GPS in the bike. You are taking along your smartphone with the...

    A few questions about a Como 3.

Hello Palmthree: I can address a few of your questions, but I'm in the states so info may be different. I have now purchased 3 of the Como 3.0 IGH bikes (one for me, my son in Canada and my wife) so I know this bike well. I have no info on a front basket. The last of the 3 I picked up in the US...

    Como 3.0 IGH battery upgrade

Thanks all for the information here. In a few days I will be stoping into our local Specialized owned bike shops (Gray Goat) and see about the cost of ordering the battery (and potentially the cover). I'll report on what I learned

    Como 3.0 IGH battery upgrade

I have a Como 3.0 IGH with the 530Wh battery. It's good, but on longer rides I sure wish I had more capacity. Specs: Specialized U2-530, alloy casing, state of charge display, 530Wh Can I order / get the 710Wh battery that comes with the Como 4.0 IGH, and use it in my 3.0? Specs...

    Firmware update for charging limit

That's the same attitude that the government took with Nissan and the LEAF in 2013 when they first offered in the software for users to limit charge to 80%. The EPA said "you must reduce your posted range of the vehicle in ads to that which is available at 80%" In response, Nissan immediately...
