For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

All this talk of cycling is annoying me. It's far too cold to ride here. Arghhhhh.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Oh that is interesting. Now that I ride with my Shokz bone conduction headphones....motor noise is not much of an issue for me....even if motor noise does remain. For me to upgrade my 4.0 SL....I would need to have lighter weight, a more compliant (less rigid) frame, and a quieter motor. That...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I loved my betamax...it was always better than my later VHS lol. I've said it before..if I had one complaint..it would be motor noise from my 1.1 motor. It isn't a deal breaker type problem....it's just me being nit-picky. I'll leave it to the overlords at Spesh who decided to make a bike...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Yes I s'pose....but that is a smaller market even yet! Let's face it....those seeking range, power, and comfort were never SL buyers. Sure there might be a few die-hard roadies that find this appealing...but those folks are a tough sell on ebikes to begin with. I dunno....to each their own...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

That response from Spesh is a misdirection imo. Those competitors utilize third party equipment and are limited in doing so. Spesh has the capabilities to out-engineer their competition but in this case out/over-engineered the use-case for this bike. Stefan I choose to believe that this...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

THIS is exactly the issue....and this is precisely why I am disappointed with this new introduction. I had not been among those who felt that the SL was ever hindered by power/range....and I welcomed any trade-off(s) for the benefit of light, nimble, and analog-like. Sure there was always a...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Yes you have given me an epiphany. I think I will take my old 'beater' 4.0 SL and give it a good cleaning and carefully place it in bubble wrap with moth balls. Obviously my older SL will become a 'unicorn' bike highly desired globally for its low weight to motor power to battery supply ratio...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Understood. And Agreed. BUT. In the realm of E-bikes....the volume of buyers seeking lighter and lower powered ebikes...makes up a very very small total percentage of the e-bike consumer pool. I'm not saying it is right/wrong....It's just the truth. Good examples of lighter/lower powered...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

This should be just 'the ticket' for some folks....but this SL market was a small market to begin with. Spesh knows this....and they are only making 250 of these globally. Hard pass for me.....unless this were an even trade for my old trusty.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Perhaps....but not an achievement that I care about. My old 4.0 SL battery provides MORE than enough charge for anything that I need...in fact I charge the bike about 1 time per 100 miles and enjoy riding without motor assist quite a lot. On this same point Stefan...you can bet your a$$ that...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I always ask Santa for these type of things....but it never seems to work out. Perhaps this year I will hide the menorah.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

This looks great....but where is the weight savings? I could really get behind my SL in a less rigid carbon frame version but I expect some serious weight savings. My old SL 4.0 weighs 35lbs already. This is a "limited run for preorder limited to 250 bikes globally and available at select...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Glad to hear the SL is working for you. You are among few who really did research to learn what the SL can accomplish (and what it cannot accomplish) in advance of purchase. So good on you! I'm nearing the end of my 2nd season on the SL and still absolutely love the bike.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

My regular route today: at point of steepest incline I was in Sport on my SL and a young girl on an old Schwinn cruiser pulled out of a driveway in front of me and easily climbed that hill. She was probably 12 years old. It was immasculating.

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

Understood Stefan....and partly why I am curious to hear Jeremy's findings. Yes....XX/100 tuning can be quite interesting and quite fun. I don't find XX/100 beneficial for me personally as I am typically attempting to ride for fitness/workout......but it certainly is fun. It should be...

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

You will just have to experiment. You likely will want to ride the coast or the flats with the motor off.....and this is something that you likely cannot yet fully comprehend coming from a 61lb bike. I VERY rarely put the SL into Turbo mode.....and I rarely ride using more than 45% assistance...

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

Congrats. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts after you take delivery. It is just too difficult for me/anyone to credibly estimate your battery consumption/mileage. Fitness, weight, wind, hills etc. That said....I'd think you will get more than 30 miles per charge. We shall see. I...

2019 Turbo Vado 3.0 Motor Bolt

I vaguely recall that it is a 40-something mm torx bolt....only because I did not have the right tool to tighten mine up during routine maintenance. But I could be wrong.
