Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

I deleted the bike from the app and started fresh, and that worked. I also had to hit the + button to complete the pairing, which the app & bike didn't tell me, whoops. When all else fails, check the manual ... Perhaps. :) I wear US size 13, Euro size 46. My shoe is 13" = 33cm long. I'm...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

No, I'm using the Specialized app. I've got a Vado 4.0. I have some old Shimano shoes with ... Look pedals I think? I was hoping to not need them, or other clipless. I don't pedal hard enough to need rigid cycling shoes. I think my heel is striking in the circled area -- actually on the...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Resurrecting this thread ... I keep hitting my heel on the chain guard. If I make an effort to splay my heel out further then it will miss, but within a few minutes my foot rotates slightly and my heel starts hitting again. Is this common? Any suggestions to "fix" it? I've never had this...

    Specialized app

Hello all, having a few issues with the Specialized app. * Frequently I finish a ride and notice it's no longer recording the ride. Last week I happened to be looking when the app crashed with a "no longer responding" message. Any ideas what might cause that? I'm running on an Android phone...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

The climbing isn't what worries me. It's bombing DOWN those steep/rough/rocky trails. That sounds like a medical emergency just waiting to happen. Your "terrible" English is vastly better than any non-English language I speak! I know bits of German, French, tiny bits of Swedish, a little...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

True for the Vado, unfortunately not for the Vado SL. You have to remove the motor &etc to get at the battery. :( So it's not a good solution for winter storage & charging. We have lots of >10% trails around here, but I don't plan to ride 'em. I don't want to ride on steep hiking trails...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Thanks, @jtooley. If it works for you, it oughta work for me. Bummer that the 5.0 is $1000-1500 more than the 4.0, and that the step-throughs aren't on sale!

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

@mschwett yes I've been looking too. :) Specialized Denver does not seem to be a company-owned store. It's "now part of the Incycle Marketplace," which is apparently a Southern California-based chain or association of bike shops. They're expanding -- we have two of them in town as of last...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

@Stefan Mikes oh dear I'm afraid the Creo 2 is well out of my price range!! I'm choking on the Vado SL 5.0 price ... It sounds like you're saying the Vado SL 4.0 is almost not worth it, since it takes significant $$upgrading$$. Might as well just apply the $$ to a SL 5.0? Except, ouch, it's...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Thanks Stefan! Great info. "Commuter bike with gravel capability" -- sounds like just what I need. Most of my rides will be 20-40 miles on flats and some hills, with occasional rides of 50 miles or more, occasional gravelly rides. I assume the Vado SL will handle gravel OK? I don't need...

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

Unfortunately the Tero X 5 and 6 are too rich for me, and the Tero X 4 seems to be unavailable -- all grayed out.

It's Down to 2 Bikes, unless

I'm also 6'3" (and shrinking, used to be 6'4"), also in Colorado (Ft Collins). My hip is "only" 67 but I may have the same issue. I can't find details. Is the Vado 3 a class 1 ?? I've been considering a Vado 3 IGH.

Considering a Specialized, got a few questions

I'm bike shopping. Whoo there is a bewildering array of available options. I'm starting to zero in on Specialized, though Trek is not out of the running yet. I definitely want a mid-drive with torque sensor. Concern: I read a lot of comments saying Specialized's service is crap, while Trek...

    Colorado Rebates?

Colorado is offering rebates of $1000 for income-qualified (< 80% of Area Mean Income) or $500 (80-100% of AMI). The website says the registration is closed, but I just received my voucher. They open it up for a week each month. I suggest you sign up and see what happens! Program...

    XPremium Q's

That sounds EXACTLY like me. At PAS2 7th gear I can't go much more than 11-12mph. I can push it really hard and get it a bit faster, but not for long. At sustainable work levels it drops right back down to 11-12. It feels like the bike quits assisting once it gets to that speed. Frankly the...

    XPremium Q's

Yeah you went from 14 to 11, that's a 27% increase. That WOULD be a big improvement (assuming higher gearing is what you want). But I already have a 12-tooth, so it would only be about 1/3 as much difference for me. Mid-drives are known to be hard on chain & sprockets, because they keep...

    XPremium Q's

Google for "11 freewheel" and you'll find lots of candidates. I agree with the PAS2 comment, as I mentioned above. PAS2 is a lot more work, because of the big PAS2 -> PAS3 gap -- I'll get more range out of the bike, but I might run out of range in my legs!! Yeah I'll bet the 700c's ride...

    XPremium Q's

I agree with your comments on susp & 4". (Though the XP2.0 & 3.0 have 3" tires, not 4".) I imagine the suspension post would make the ride a bit cushier, but it's already pretty cush with the 4" fatties, and it doesn't have the rocking you mentioned. The XPremium already has a 12-32, so a...

    XPremium Q's

Some questions for XPremium pilots: Does anybody use a suspension post on the XPremium seat? Or is it pointless, since the 4" fatties already soak up most of the bumps? I've heard the power bar is really inaccurate. I think I remember seeing a table that maps Voltage to actual expected...
