Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

I think they do. Im not familiar with that, how does it work? Thats what I think they did. Why, I'm not sure. I can either return this setup and look for another or just suck it up and get the right cables. I havent found a better version yet.

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

I hooked up a light to the red 3 pin connector, and it lit up when I pushed the power button for a moment. So the only unused connector are the two whites. This is one of the sections of the connector diagram. Its not showing the 2 white wires, and the battery is an xt60 connector. The wire...

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

First question. I have accounted for all the connections except for these two. The red one with 3 pins and two white wires. According to the very minimal documentation I got with the controller, the red is for lights which would leave the two whites for brakes? If they are for brakes...

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

Parts finally came in today. I did a test hookup to see if it powered up and it did. Throttle works, pas seems to work, display works and I modified the settings as needed. Controller is a tad bit longer than the original and I might be able to stuff it back in the cavity for a very neat...

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

Motor is a Bafang 350w 36v. The controller on Amazon is a sine wave type, from what I understand it should be pretty smooth. I want to get something that has the controller and at least a display and PAS sensor included so I know they should all work together from the gitgo.

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

Thanks for the quick replies. I've found one kit on Amazon that I think might do the trick. Amazon link It has the controller, pas sensor, display, I looked again last night at the bike and the output cable. The only existing connections I have to use are the output to the motor and the DC...

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

My step daughter bought one of these REI bikes last year when the went on sale. She really likes the bike except for one thing. She has MS and the bike does not have a throttle, it's a class 1. She needs the throttle to help start off from a stop so I offered to see what I can do with it...

A camping recumbent with the new TSDZ8 motor

The motor kit and the other parts were finally all here last Friday. I tested out the motor with my existing battery and the second mount to make sure it would power up before I started taking the bike apart for the install. It powered up and I was able to goose the motor with the throttle so I...

A camping recumbent with the new TSDZ8 motor

Hmm, 64 looks and no comments. Oh well, I'll post for posterity then. Hopefully it will help somebody else down the road. Ordered the TSDZ8 motor off Amazon, came to a bit more than 400. I also ordered a second base for the battery and will swap it when I need to use this bike. Motor is...

A camping recumbent with the new TSDZ8 motor

I'm looking for a motor for my third ebike build. First two are recumbents and this one will be as well. I have a greenspeed magnum with a tsdz2b and a rans stratus with a bbs02. Both bikes have over 1000 miles on them with about a year and change worth of riding. Have had no trouble with...

Converted a long wheelbase recumbent, a Rans Stratus XP with a slightly used Bafang

A month or so ago, I picked up a pair of Rans LWB recumbents, one was an LE with the smaller front wheel and the other was an XP with two 26" wheels. My plan was to keep one and sell the other. After riding them both a bit, I decided on keeping the XP. I upgraded the road tires to Big Apple...

Need some quick help to swap chainring on Tongsheng tsdz2

Howdy. I've been riding the Greenspeed Magnum a bit and it looked to be topping out at about 12 mph in the highest gear with the default 42 that came with the motor. I looked online and ended up ordering a 48 in the 110 BCD to swap which will give me an extra 2 mph give or take according to...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

I got the bike put together today and took it for a test ride. What I had left to do was to finish up the battery mount and secure the wiring. I had bought a 3x4x12 piece of aluminum angle and had did some work on it, but was not happy that it would support the battery fully since it was a...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

Motor and battery came in Friday. I was a bit surprised that it did not have a throttle. Looking online it looks like I got a 6 pin version that does not support the throttle function. I dont think they had one that mentioned a throttle, maybe I just assumed. I'm guessing its possible to...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

Yeah, that was the only battery that they had with US shipping. Chinese cells but rated for 48v at 12.5a. I shopped around and it looked like comparable everywhere else (Ebay, Amazon) was about 270. Guess we'll see how it works once it all gets here. Not planning on drilling any extra holes...

Using High Capacity Cordless Tool Batteries in Ebikes

I've thought about using powertool batteries as well. I have a bunch of Bosch 18v including two 8 amp versions. What I'm not so sure about is how well they would work paired up and how well the battery electronics would play with a load not designed with that battery in mind. From what I...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

Motor and battery ordered from PSWPower. A bit shy of 500 for both with shipping. Should be here in a few more days. Had to get a special wrench to get the bottom bracket off, but once in hand, it wasn't too bad. Ordered a topeake bar extender for the display and a longer cable for the speed...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

Thank you both for the quick replies. A few quick questions: Is the V5 software what is shipped from the factory currently? How difficult is it to flash to the OSF version, what type of dongle is needed? I've got a motor and 48v 12.5a battery in the cart from PSW power. Total...

Need some feedback on TSZD2 with OSF vs standard OS

Howdy Some background first. I've currently got a Greenspeed Magnum which is a tadpole trike with 20" wheels that I would like to electrify. It's not my first electric bike experience, before this I had a Himiway with a hub motor that was fun to ride but didnt provide that much exercise...
