    Carbon forks?

Carbon doesn't necessarily mean better compliance. It could be stiffer than OEM - all depends on the design. And if you ding it, you'll always be wondering if you damaged it.

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

Kinda wanna add the middle child Fumpa to the ebike kit. I carry a Milwaukee M12 power source and 3Ah battery & cables as standard kit. Could run one of those for days...

    Electric Air Pumps 2024

I carry little bottles of Stans with me. I've rescued strangers as well as myself when I didn't top up soon enough. I have 2 on me at all times on the ebike (along with hopefully topped-up Stans in the tires). Also use Orange Seal from time to time - both great sealants...

Where are the bike tire nerds?

That's some fat rubber for city riding. Not sure how low you can go with your rims, but narrower tires that make more contact with the surface (slicks, semi-slicks), will probably be the most efficient. They wear a lot slower than more aggressive rubber too. I've had good luck with Maxxis...

So what's your other hobbies or interests?

Mountain bikes - building, wrenching, experimenting, riding, etc. I use the ebike mostly for transportation - MTBs for fun and exercise. Grew up with essentially a bike park in my back yard, started riding 46 years ago, and lived through the evolution from BMX > early MTBs (still have one of...

Unsolicited comments about your ebike lately?

Only once, but it was in another language, so I can't be sure :) Did have a Karen yell at me for using my voice instead of a bell this weekend as I passed 'her' group of 15 or so. Ask me if I care.

Get repaired (if possible), donate, trade in or ride into the ground?

Keep it if you have the space and are kinda handy. You can let friends ride it, use it as a backup, or just beat on it. As you said, it's going to be hard to get anything for it. That's always been my philosophy with bikes. I don't sell bikes. I'll fix them up a bit and give them to...

Allant+ 9.9s ratchety clicks when coasting?

Yeah, the Allant freehub does make some noise. I use it to alert others of my presence & consider that a feature.

How Many e-Bikes do you have and ride ??

Only one ebike at the moment - an Allant+ 7S As far as thoughts go - it's pretty awesome. This motor is actually rated at 85 Nm - which is quite a lot. I have about 3300 miles on this one as of today and don't have too many complaints. The fork does suck, but it's better than nothing. The...

    Wireless Earbuds for cycling

I love my Shokz more every time I use them - have a pair at the office and one at home. I've never ridden with them. I have the boom versions, which could potentially get noisy, but it does flip around backward. They're my go-tos for calls and meetings. Everything but music actually...

Close to 2 feet all in. Followed immediately by chinook winds (still blowing hard). With any luck we'll have most of this out of here by Monday.

Trek Allant+ 8s $1000 off on sale in the US

Yeah, I'm a little floored by the number of bikes offered by Trek and other leading retailers. I mean, it's not a bad thing by any stretch - at least for consumers, but one wonders how it's sustainable. Apparently it's not :) The level of innovation that's happened in the industry in the last...

Trek Allant+ 8s $1000 off on sale in the US

Trek did announce the other day that they won't be producing as many models. They didn't say what would be cut, but my money's on the less profitable bikes. They have cut the Powerfly fleet back to just one model.

    Negotiations on price

Shops have too much inventory and too few customers. Yeah, they'll negotiate. Covid days where they wouldn't budge from retail on anything are over. Also seeing some crazy good advertised deals.

Toronto Metrolinx says e-bike batteries that don't meet standards won't be allowed on trains

I would ban them too. Sketchy batteries, BMS, and riders are gonna spoil it for all of us. We don't have too many around here, but the food delivery guys are the most dangerous thing about NYC.
