Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Sorry to hear of that, Stefan, but understand. At the end of one of my first city rides my Vado 4.0 SL EQ chain dropped and got stuck between cassette and frame. Ouch. A very nice neighbor I had never even met grabbed some tools and valiantly tried to free chain, but failed. So I rolled it to my...

Corrected! Thanks for catch as “I’m not really a math guy”.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The EBR video review of the Specialized Vado SL 4.0 EQ (Size Large) says its original Racktime rack is “rated up to 33 lbs. or 15 kg.” It’s about the only thing the reviewer didn’t like about the e-bike.

QR skewer & disk brakes claimed as a contributing factor in fatal accident involving a RadRunner

So so sorry for friends and families. L.A. Times reports Molly, the 12-year-old who died, was sitting on padded rear seat meant for a passenger. The 11-year-old (!) driver was injured. Too much motor bike for these kids IMHO on a steep, curvy quiet suburban lane. Story has link to Rad Bikes...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

May, 2022. Like I noted, it was an ad that popped-up on my iPhone when I was on Specialized.com thinking of buying their Mode helmet. Ezra confirmed that company discount at [email protected]. Don’t believe discount was just aimed at me. And again, it was for first online buy only.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Earlier this year, Specialized offered me 15% discount on my first online purchase. It was a pop-up from its web site. Confirmed by Ezra at Specialized RiderCare. Hope this helps.

In USA, Specialized offers discount on first online order.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Yes. The official Specialized Vado manual says the Vado battery will have 75% power after first 300 charges. Still going!

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Hello from USA. I did serious research before spending thousands of dollars and believe the Vado 4.0 SL EQ is well worth the price. Specialized offers a discount for your first online sale, so buying bike online and having your local LBS assemble it should save you some money. I think the bike...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I agree the stock Vado 4.0 saddle is a bit harsh and unforgiving. So I bought a Specialized Body Geometry Comfort Gel saddle for $50. Huge improvement. Strongly recommended.

I’m loving my Specialized “Bennies” pedals thanks to advice from Bryan at the EBike store in North Portland and many EBR posters who also noted big improvement. At $80, a pretty good value.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I completely agree the Vado SL 4.0 is built ready to rock and anyone thinking of buying it should do it and ride it out of the store as-is. You’ll probably not change one thing. It is that great. (said the guy who made some minor comfort changes to his blue and white Vado SL 4.0 EQ now dubbed...

My Redshift StopShock stem is now working great after about 60 miles of break-in, as the manual states. Awesome compliment to Redshift suspension seat post. Thanks to posters who urged me to buy them. Happy riding out there!

Vado SL feels like a real bike, but seems expensive to this very experienced bike rider. Thoughts? Alternatives?

Cliche warning: you get what you pay for. Specialized has crushed it with e-bikes. This older guy is just thrilled with the Vado SL 4.0 EQ. It’s true there are many options out there at lower price points. But those bikes are very heavy compared to the Vado SL models. As you know from your test...

Please consider Specialized Tailwinds pannier. Works great for me. But yes, there are tons of options at all price points.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I ride on city streets to local parks and the beautiful Eastbank Esplanade bike trail, which runs for miles along the Willamette River. No “off-road” stuff.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I really like the Redshift suspension seat post smoothing out bumps on my Vado 4.0 SL EQ. Glad I bought it. Not feeling a big difference up front with Redshift suspension stem. Something to chat with my LBS at 60-day bike checkup. And I can’t leave without big note of thanks and encouragement to...

Panniers for Turbo Vado SL EQ 5.0

I bought one Tailwinds pannier for my Vado 4.0 SL EQ and it works great. Easy on, easy off, looks good, plenty of storage and aerodynamic — according to that famous Specialized research wind tunnel.

Appreciate the thought. My bike shop thinks the six-degree RSS stem is best and yes, I just ordered the Redshift Shockstop Suspension Seatpost.
