    Delite and Homage 5

After three years and about 10.000 km riding with my homage Rohloff into my office I recently noticed that Riese Müller will now offer the homage5 with the pinion mgu. Due to my opinion the pinion mgu is the beginning of an e-bike revolution. In comparison with the Rohloff/Bosch combination it...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

Last friday and yesterday I went to office by bike, hence I could test the new cranks (e*thirteen 165mm) and the new dropper post OneUp V2 configured with 110mm travel. Hard to recognise that the new cranks are 5mm shorter. Finally I had no ground contact with the new cranks during the two...

The e*thirteen e*spec are especially designed for the Bosch CX Gen 4. They fit perfectly at my bike (Homage 2021, Rohloff). 5mm less shouldn't be a problem either. I already tested them by driving a few kilometres. Nice! (The reduced length doesn't seem to be a problem at all. In other words...

I just mounted the "e*thirteen e*spec" cranks. I chose the 165mm variant but they are also available in 160mm and 170mm. Price range between 60€ and 70€. Pretty good quality, better than the original ones and less weight.

Easy easy...one of my favourite mantras is: "Better loosing the best friend than omitting a good point!" Of course I'm a big fan of Englisch humor. Yesterday I got my booster. There was a long line in the practice. While waiting I remembered a scene of "Life of Brian": "To the boostering...

Finally I arrived at the same decision as BMWzenRider and puchased the OneUp V2. Why did I change my mind? I found a special offer for the OneUp V2 variant I need (169 €), hence the pricing difference is neglectable. Also relevant for my decision was the fact that OnUp has reacted to the...

Thanks for this detailed presentation. I just measured the current stack length of the original post at my bike (the x-fusion is not fully inserted): Almost 160mm, after crank replacement 5mm more. Hence a stack length of 155mm at full insertion as given in your table shouldn't be a problem...

Regarding the cranks I finally decided to replace them, since again I had crank contact on the short trail section I have to pass on my way home yesterday. There are appropriate cranks from E*THIRTEEN where I have the choice between 160mm and 165mm. Anyway the effect on the ground clearance...

Excellent observations. I already had several ground contacts with the cranks due to the length of the cranks. Replacing the cranks by shorter ones would reduce this risk significantly. The only reason I hesitate, is the impact on the saddle heigth. Did you lift the saddle by 10mm when you...

There is another way to increase ground cleareance. Replace the cranks by smaller ones (e. g. 165 cm). This is a serious option for E-Mountanbikers to avoid "touchdowns" on rough ground. There are even 135cm cranks.

Again the size issue: I think the Size declarations of the Homage are a little bit missleading. Instead of S,M,L Riese & Müller should use M, L, XL. If you look for a similair bike, which fits better for smaller persons, there is just one alternative due to my opinion. The Conway Cairon SUV FS...

This weekend I checked the pressure of the suspension elements. It was too low at the fork and also at the rear suspension element. At the primary service after 400km I asked the dealer to check the pressure. The employee found the fork pressure ok and filled in some air into the rear...

I’ve been using the Homage as a commuter now almost two months (around 100km a week). So, I think it is time for a first review. Since I am a perfectionist I’m always looking for improvements. I mention this explicitly, to avoid the impression, that I don’t appreciate this bike. The opposite is...

As I promised, I could take some photographs on last friday (5.11.2021) during my trip into the office using my Fuji X-E1 with the 27mm lens. On the first picture you can see a bow of the Isar (the big river through Munich), on the second a bridge (steel/wood construction) over the Isar for...

Yeah ... was a great ride this morning. Sunny weather and very fresh air (about 4 degrees Celsius). The leather saddle (Brooks B17 Imperial) feels better with every ride. Hence replacing the original saddle was the right decision. ("As-issue" resolved) Unfortunately I've still got minor...

I see, I'm not the only one who appreciates the SQLab grips and inner bar ends. This evening I optimised my configuration. But I had to step back from my original plans regarding several issues. The lever for the seat post can't be moved to the left side due to its construction. And there...

On Wendnesday evening I mounted the new grips and inner bar ends from SQLab on the handle bar. On Thursday I had my first ride with this new configuration. Not perfect but much better. Around 80% of the time I grabbed the handle bar at the inner bar ends. In my eyes also the grips are better in...

Yeah David, I saw this variant too. But If you add inner bar ends to this variant you got two bar ends on each side. This doesn't make sense in my eyes. The so called combo barends 402/410 are especially designed to combine them with the 702/710 grips, hence the name "combo". The clue of this...

Thx for your replies. Yesterday I tested the Ergon GP5, which I removed from the second bike of my wife which she currently doesn't use. To make it short: Changing hand position gives you relief but this type of vertical grip feels too broad for me. And I still got problems with my hands, which...

Last Monday I fetched my Homage from the local dealer. On thursday and friday got into my office (around 23 km distance) using that bike. Immediatly it became clear, that some modifications will be meaningful. Saddle: Coming from a recumbent this is a very important issue for me. After 15 min...
