Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I agree with you and the others that say a Vado sl in sport mode is a big jump up from a sirrus. I went from an older carbon Roubaix (drop bar road bike) to a Vado sl and the Vado sl in eco mode made the same ride 1-2 mph faster. Then I switched to a creo and tuned eco down to 20/35 and beat my...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I agree the Kool Stop Jack does feel lighter duty than I’d like. So far it has helped me mount a couple of gp5000’s, Mondos and now Pirelli p-zeros, all 700X35. Six tires now and each time it did feel a little flimsy but it sure worked well. It does help to keep both beads in the center channel...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

This makes installation a lot easier! On my last install I did have to pinch the tire with a small C clamp ahead of the tire jack to keep it from coming out of the channel.

    interesting new garmin radar data

Maybe this will help, in your last statement “The think I cannot understand though is the value of the post-ride stats of Varia”, replace Varia with wahoo, Strava, Garmin, etc. and you will answer your own question yourself.

    Thanks!

    interesting new garmin radar data

Your three examples are meaningless - the Varia is not intended to protect you from cross traffic when blasting through an intersection or from hitting a roadside barrier with your face. If you ride on gravel roads without traffic you don’t need one. I find it to be a critical aid riding on...

    TQ motor

Interesting that your Trek rider power reporting is consistently higher than your power pedals. Most others report the opposite. And what is the lower green line? Did you get the latest update, and if so any improvement in rider power accuracy?

    interesting new garmin radar data

I agree that my Varia is my most important accessory. I get a few false alarms from traffic on side streets etc, but it almost never misses a car that’s really there. Where did you find all that data?

    Chain Line - Turbo Creo

First things to check are: Is the chain installed correctly in the praxis chainring? It’s a “wave” design and a diagram on the inside face of the chainring shows the proper link-to-tooth orientation. And is the derailleur clutch in the “on” position?

    Creo vs Creo 2 geometry

By measuring my XXL Creo 1, I determined that Specialized’s head tube measurement goes from the bottom of the tube up to the flange point on the future shock where the stem will sit (with no spacers under the f shock). Because of the way the future shock fits into the head tube, this point is...

    specialized creo 2

Here’s what I did to estimate the way specialized measures their stack height: My 2021 XXL Creo specs say the bottom bracket height is 269.5mm, Stack 675, Reach 399, Horiz top tube 605. Adding the bottom bracket height to the stack gives about 945mm which is just over 37 3/16 in., floor to...

    specialized creo 2

Specialized seems to measure stack height the vertical distance between the bottom bracket and the point on the future shock that the stem sits, without spacers, which would go below the future shock. This is the minimum stack height measurement, equivalent to the stack of a non-futureshock bike...

Today was supposed to be new Creo announcement day!

Yeah, either the specialized website is full of errors or the reviewer had his geometry tables mixed up. The tables on the site were consistently lower and longer throughout the sizes so I’d bet on reviewer error. I wonder how many other reviewers will parrot that first one and pass on...

Today was supposed to be new Creo announcement day!

The geometry numbers I’m seeing on the specialized site show the creo 2 has a lower stack, shorter head tube and longer reach than the original when comparing the same sizes. 56 with L, 58 with XL and 61 with XXL (Creo 2 using numbers and Creo 1 using letter sizing). I’m surprised by that change...

    Domane + overheating in car

Interesting question. If you can park in the shade it really helps. I hope you give a detailed report on your new bike after your rides. If you have other road ebike experience (Creo, etc) I’m interested in how they compare. Google found this for shaded parking: Outside “Shaded” Temperature...

    New Spec App?

Just think of all the new world records you can document now. Your average speed must be several hundred mph, longest lasting battery ever, least drivetrain wear per mile, untouchable endurance athlete record … I’ll wait a while longer before trying the new app again.

SUPPORT vs POWER settings in Eco, Trail and Turbo modes

You’re right about the Power setting, but the Support setting gives you a percentage of your own input power as motor power. So if you were climbing the hill, putting 250 watts of your leg power into the cranks, your bike at 15% support would be adding roughly .15 X 250 X 2 (for the 2X factor of...

    2023 Trek Domane+

Too bad about your knee pain. If the Q factor really is the culprit, are your cleats moved as far outbound (bringing feet inward) as possible but still allowing pedaling without rubbing your feet on the cranks? And if you haven’t had a thorough fit done on this bike, that’s worth a try too. Good...

    New Spec App?

Thanks, and I agree it’s odd that S released and is hyping up their new app that leaves out some important basic functions. Maybe they’re striving to be unique as the only available bike app that doesn’t display heart rate.

    New Spec App?

So back to my question: does the new S app connect with a heart rate monitor? I already know my garmin does and the old MC app did but the new S app doesn’t seem to.
