Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I like the stock pedals. When they eventually kick back there's less pain than the MTB type. Seem to last.

    Creo SL 1x Chainguide?

Nicely done - thanks for sharing. I'm still on the fence about it. Whenever I have new(er) chain on I don't have drops in any condition as long as clutch is engaged (have shimano setup)

Replacing The Coin Battery In the Specialized SL TCU Gen 1

Guy posted on FB recently he just hits the TCU into his palm and battery comes out - no tool needed.

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

you made a great choice ender and the cannondale price is good - 85nm and 40-some lbs for $7k. i test rode one and the shimano motor is absolutely silent. for me though - the down tube size is a deal breaker - but i really think cannonadale probably the better value overall in the sl catergory...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

i agree. and a lot more competition now. when i bought my sl4 in '21 could hardly get a bike nevermind the one i wanted. and that kind of situation demands high prices. not so much now. everyone has an ebike to offer at this point and there's a lot of stock they set the retail price of the...

    Vado 4.0 Sale Price

i just purchased a levo sl for $7k US - on sale $1k from an even nuttier $8k pricetag. but had to have it after such a great experience with sl4 and making up for only thing it doesn't do well - working really rough trails. i say - take advantage of the sale prices - $2700 is perfect price

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

It's just an awesome machine and it will grow on you. There's not much it can't do. Even some light mountain biking. It's not fragile. With 42's probably could be a mountain bike if you can handle the rough. and Sry to hear about the poor build. at specy you pay premium $$ to not have that...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I have nearly 10k miles on my SL4 and except for SRAM (Shimano here) and have had the exact opposite experience than you on every point you make. Really sorry to hear about your mostly bad experience. I'll be doing a 10k mile review when I hit that number probably next month. I hope you comment

My chain is jumping off the chain ring on my Creo

Great idea too - 4 bolts - could do this and won't mess frame and fairly quick. Thanks

My chain is jumping off the chain ring on my Creo

Great idea - hadn't thought of pulling chain out that way. I have master link but could carry tool. So far, thankfully, I've been able to get it free with tire levers and patience.

i run liners in my tires to prevent flats - extra weight really doesn't matter given e-power. also - if you don't have a flat during a season periodically replace tube anyway becuase after time they can start having leaks at the seams imo

My chain is jumping off the chain ring on my Creo

that's interesting - better shifting - will try it on the road. something i've learned with sl4 is there's a lot more audible clunk when shifting vs a bike but always thought that was due extra torque of motor over just me

My chain is jumping off the chain ring on my Creo

hey John i'll typically drop a chain like you - when I'm coasting down really bumpy terrain. I've found that if I go to a high gear and pedal just to keep some tension on the chain then it doesn't seem to happen. Of course - it's so infrequent I'm not sure about that. And the clutch just...

My chain is jumping off the chain ring on my Creo

I've had trouble periodically as well. I have an 1.1mtr VadoSL4 and the distance between the chainring and frame is just a mil too small imo. Anyway - the couple times I've had the chain drop inside is when I've forgotten the clutch or at near replacement of the chain and/or cassatte...

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

As a kid, I rode bikes without shocks - nothing on the fork or seat. My SL is just like those bikes. I feel every bump and dip. And love it!

Finally: Quiet hub on my Vado SL

True - wheels were expensive with the Onyx hubs. My SL though kind of replaces my C'Dale Synapse that I converted to flat bar and it had a silent Shimano rear hub that I got used to. And since I ride my flat bars on multi-use trails around the area it requires coasting a bit when there are...

I'm not a fan of the hub click and bought a wheel with an Onyx Vesper rear hub - perfectly silent for my SL.
