    Hello from Southern NV

Hi from Henderson! Just got my first ebike... well second one, but that's because I returned my first one within a week. Go team NV!

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Ugh, that sucks. Hope one of those works for you.

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Yeah I gotta agree. This isn't my first bicycle and I'm sorry but chains don't just pop off for no apparent reason. They pop off when your derailleur cable isn't tightened correctly or when you hit big bumps or do something dumb like not slow down when shifting or whatever. They don't happen...

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Yeah I don't know if it's a US thing or just because I bought direct from Giant (rather than through a private LBS) or what, but I feel lucky it worked out. And yeah, definitely no chain drop with the internally geared hub on the Transend, looking forward to not having to downshift before I...

    Thinking about the Transend....

Well Giant took my Roam back and I put money down on the Transend. I'll be picking it up tomorrow or the next day! Pretty excited! And I agree, btw, the simplicity of the bike is really nice. I doubt I'll be taking out the spacers, the tall bars are one of the things I like best about it...

Greetings from the scorching desert heat in Las Vegas!

Well, my story continues: I got the Roam home and realized a few disappointing things about it. It had lower tier shifters than the Talon that I'd test ridden, the brake levers were not the same quality as the Shimanos on the Trek I'd ridden, and the seating stance was still pretty aggressive...

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Alright well, I did some looking around town and some looking around the internet and decided to return my Roam E+. There were just too many little things I didn't like about it and for a $2500 bike (before tax), that's just not okay with me. I did end up purchasing a 2021 Momentum Transend...

    Thinking about the Transend....

Quick update, I rode the Transend today and I really enjoyed it. The riding position was noticeably more upright and the seat was softer. Combine that with the big fat tires and it felt more comfortable overall despite not having a front shock. The more powerful motor was subtle but...

    Thinking about the Transend....

@Dewey Thanks, I would definitely consider swapping the shifter at some point. Grip shifters just feel like kids shifters to me for some reason, pretending to be a motorcyle throttle. Similar to @Coolbob 's (highly amusing) comparisons to different cars, it feels like having paddle shifters on...

    Thinking about the Transend....

So I just bought a Giant Roam E+ and I'm not 100% satisfied with it. My main issue is that the chain decided to pop off randomly for no discernable reason while I was riding on a straight, flat, smooth section of road and not shifting. This was on my second "long" ride with the bike ever...

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Yes, that's totally what happened to mine. Wasn't happy about the mess or the amount of force needed to free it. Looks like there's something called a "chain catcher" that might help, I'm doing some research now to see if it might do the trick.

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

Well that's disappointing. I tend to spend a lot of time in the higher gears as I mainly use it on the road. I wonder if the Explore, with its slightly upgraded components, is better about it. I could get one if I were willing to wait ~5 weeks. EDIT - Looks like they're both Alvio. :-/

    Roam E+ Chain Popped Off

So, went on a ride today and the chain popped off the front sprocket. I was in the highest gear, I think, on a straight, flat, smooth road. Just came off out of nowhere. I thought I read somewhere before that this was a problem, but I thought it was fixed? Anyone know what the deal is with...

Greetings from the scorching desert heat in Las Vegas!

Well maybe if my wife decides she wants to join me, I'll look into getting her a hub one and we can compare. People rave about them so, again, I feel like I'm missing something. Maybe Pedego just sucks. **shrug**

    Syncdrive Tiers?

Thanks. It's a 5 week wait for the Explore so I think I'll just stick with the Roam as I "need" it sooner. I got a nice ride in this morning and I decided I can live with the shifters and brakes for what I'll be doing. The deraileur doesn't seem to like the highest gear, hopefully that can be...

Greetings from the scorching desert heat in Las Vegas!

Yeah I don't know, maybe the Pedegos just have a bad implementation, but it felt nothing like the Trek and the Giant that I tried. It's a shame, I really had my eye on the Aventon Aventure/Level or the Ride1Up 700/LTD. All cheaper than the Giant I got but if the hub motor just feels like a...

    Syncdrive Tiers?

Hey guys, The Giant site isn't very helpful with this, I'm trying to figure out the differences between the different levels of Syncdrive. I'm fairly sure Core is the lowest at 50nm and Life is next at 60nm? Does that sound right? I picked up a Roam E+ and I'm a little disappointed with the...

Greetings from the scorching desert heat in Las Vegas!

Hey folks! Just wanted to pop in and say hi and introduce myself. I created an account to ask for advice on what bike to buy, but I ended up buying a bike before my account got approved. lol Here's a story: I, at a relatively young 44 years old, was recently diagnosed with larynx cancer. I...
