planning a mid-drive Rockhopper ebike conversion, advice?

Hi folks, weathers pretty sucky outside (snowing like crazy), so good time to get serious about my winter bike project. Here's the skinny - Specialized Rockhopper 29'er want middrive will use primarily for commuting to work 12 mi each way and just want to supplement my pedaling effort to...

mid-drive free-wheeling cranks: need some undertanding...

ok dumb question, but where exactly is that (on THIS forum?)? although i was casually considering this conversion LAST winter, i'm now sitting at my computer with a foot of snow on the ground outside and another foot coming, and i'm going to get serious about this conversion (Rockhopper-->mid...

    Value Conversion Batteries

Here's a nice little summary, from two "George S" (I am one too!). The reason for my visit to this thread is exactly this topic: finding a battery for my prospective ebike project. mid-drive free-wheeling cranks: need some undertanding...

That would prevent back-driving the motor when it's off, and having a clutch at the crank wheel would prevent the motor from driving the pedals. Got my cake and eat it too...

    Motor Torque Specs Minefield!

Most of the electric motors that these ebikes have are in the 350-700W range, and at least for the mid-drive motors they run up to 3000-4000 rpm, AT THE MOTOR. Using the power formula P=speed*torque, or in engineering units: W=rpm*Nm/9.554 it's pretty easy to see that these MOTORS produce torque...

mid-drive free-wheeling cranks: need some undertanding...

Was planning on building my own ground-up ebike this winter to keep busy and quickly realized there's ALOT of stuff out there ready to go! Spent considerable time watching videos and reading websites and still undecided about build vs buy, and still have a fundamental question... It seems that...
