I was riding next to a gal yesertday that I met on a paved trail. She was on a 3yo Brompton 3 fold with a Swytch kit and was at minimal assistance trekking along at about 15mph. She said she get's about 25 miles on one charge. Hers is 3 yrs old; don't know tech on battery size. But she was...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

thanks for your reply. I did read the bill and all the amendments before posting my question. I Will f/u later w response. Appreciate your input. Curious as to where you get stats on current CA sales? Or is that just based on observation? ( which is reasonable)

Cathedrals Cycle Route UK - Questions.

Cathedrals Cycle Route UK - Questions. Advice please. Hoping to find some riders that have explored this route - maybe riden the whole 2,000 miles or portions thereof. Maybe some advice on the "best" 500 miles" of the route. I'm hoping to put together a two or so month EU trip (from USA) - buy...

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

Bumble bee beauty! I wish that color was available when I bought mine. Good for safety and pretty. Tip from an expereinced Specialized owner - be sure and register it AND scan in your receipt to the specialized web site. Recently had mine in for service and they made a big deal out of the...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

I just read the SB 1271 bill. Looks like it has been passed to the Gov's desk. The exact language on battery's is "standard referenced in ANSI/CAN/UL 2849 or EN 15194, or other safety standard for electric bicycles as the office has established by rule." - Does this meet the current Brompton and...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

Thanks for your posts. I live in CA and would like to look into the bills and other statewide legaslative action re: ebikes. I ride a Specialized Vado 5 with 5800 miles on it, and also own a Levo, so have a good amount of expereince. My city recently passed ordinances that began with the phrase...

Moving from Vado SL EQ to Creo 2

Perhpas you wrote this and I missed it, but why don't you just changed the handlebars to find some that work for you? I changed my Vado SL handlebars - took a couple tries but finally got what I need.

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

Got my Vado SL 5 back from the shop yestereday. According to the Specialized shop the TCU was bad - I was assured the battery in the TCU had been checked, even though I didn't witness it and that the battery was not the issue. The new TCU was about $130 including taxes. While there I got a new...

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

intresting.... there were no red lights on even when holding top and bottom button down, when they said tcu was bad. The head light would come on and then go out. Anyway - I'll let you know.

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

I agree. My display looks a bit different. Maybe first gen? The knowledgable repair guy did check what you are referring to on the bike that the other rider came in with. My service guy - did press a few things on mine, but he was non communicative, and but I went back out to the car to get my...

    Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ

Take viedo's of all the issues and each time. Like when you try and turn it on and off. Can you still return it? Maybe you should?

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

Stefan, let me clarify.... the bike had been ridden in the last two years - just not as frequently. ..."Have not ridden it a whole lot".... sorry if my phrasing was misleading. I had ridden it about 6 weeks prior and I did notice then that when I tried to turn it on, it didn't come on...

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

Don't think I was bashing. I do think a simple part like this on a $5000 bike should last much longer than 2 years... their warranty.

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

I may have the names wrong - but the computer thing that rests on the handlebars has a button battery and that is being replaced. The thing (I think the TCU) with the button you push to turn the bike on - is what I am calling the TCU... The Specialized repair guy tried to turn it on, and of...

TCU warranty only 2 years on the Vado SL

Hi all, just wanted to alert folks who may not be aware that the TCU in a 2020 Vado SL 5 is only warranted for two years. Mine recently stopped working, so the bike would not turn on. Have not ridden it a whole lot in the last two years, but really enjoyed it previously. So when I tried to turn...

    Some bicycle travel tips

You are right and that's actually what I usually do. Leave them on the sink counter with a note that say's "free" or somthing similiar. I also do the same with "Goodwill" clothes, that I leave in hotel rooms, or airport restrooms. I definetly donate when they meet donatable standards.

    Some bicycle travel tips

I've also done that on air travel. For long flights, I hate arriving with dirty clothes that I have spent the last 8-10 hours in, so I head to the airport restroom, put on something clean and dump the transfer wardrobe in the trash. I should also add I fly in clothes that are already ready for...

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

I have three range extenders and yes they are helpful - but all depends on your situation. I ride in headwinds, I like going fast, and I often camp and do not always have access to electrical to charge it up.
